Cigar smokers are a pretty committed bunch. Just wondering what extremes you've gone to while enjoying a stogie. My personal best is 45 degrees C and -5C. Due to the extreme dryness the cigar disintegrated in the heat but I remember the cold not being that bad all things considering...

I only smoke in cooler weather. I find that on hot days my cigars burn a little too hot, affecting the taste. In summer I only smoke in the evening, when it's somewhat cooler.

I haven't measured the temps but at a guess I'd say I usually smoke in the range of 18 - 22 degrees Celsius.

-5 is a mighty effort!

Temps here going down to the -20C range next week. I'd like to think I could get through a minuto, but I'll probably be reaching for puritos or minis for the next little while...

Matt, you need to get yourself a winter smoking lounge like I just installed in the back of the house for Camp W.

112°Fis my upper extreme.  Was enjoyable... to a degree.  Definitely not my preference though… LOL

It doesn't get too cold where I live, but I have sat outside by a fire rather bundled up at 38°F

Sitting outside in the Winter Smoking Lounge of Camp W. It's 28F outside but in the Lounge it's cozy and comfortable while I enjoy a 2011 Connie 1.

If I had a choice I would opt for warmer weather on the proviso that it's not too humid. I've had great cigars in warmer weather (between 35°C and 40°C), but horrible bitter and tarry stogies in 30°C at night time with 80-90% RH. I just don't like cold weather, so I would need an outdoor heater to smoke in winter, no matter how good the cigar is.

I agree, humidity is a pain in the ass.

South Florida basically leaves few options, hot and humid, hot and raining, hotter and humid, and hotter and raining.

Generally, temps here are 80df or higher, and RH is seldom below 80%. Add in the mosquitos year round, and you have a rather uncomfortable smoking environment. For some that may be unbearable, but I wouldn't live in a cold climate again.

This summer I smoked a Lusitanias in 93df and over 90% humidity. But I loved it!

I prefer cold weather smoking. The snot that lands on your cigar often adds that driftwood profile...

Not ideal conditions but cravings need to be satisfied.

I admire your dedication!

Low end range of my enjoyment level is 50F. To expand on that range I went to the local DIY store and bought a propane heater. It's an even colder day today, not sure how much help it will be but willing to give it a try.

Barry, Let us know how this works out for you? Thanks, David

OK will do.  It's an unheated but insulated 2 car garage.  20'x20' with 8' ceiling and insulated 16' door.  One outside wall.

Usual ambient is in the high 40'sF during the cold end of the winter.

We'll know soon enough how this works - I'm looking for very fast heat to the immediate smoking area.

You gonna be pretty cosy under that!

Not sure if this happens to anyone else where your last third gets rock solid like it's frozen. Have been getting a bit of that when I'm out in the cold. Mucks up flavours a little and burn gets weird.
