Let me preface this post by noting I am only 20 years of age and am still living at home, so space is limited, parents hate cigars. :(

I have just a 50 count desktop humidor that is filled to the brim, I really want to buy more boxes... but frankly don't have enough space. Where do I go from here? buy more desktops? or look at cabinets/custom wineadors? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

When I was starting out I used an igloo cooler I had laying around. Then for a while I also put a couple of boxes in a cheap styrofoam cooler I had. Eventually I bought 300 count table humidor. Once that was full I finally bought a Wine fridge and converted it. The coolers are gone now, but they served me well for a while.

I agree on the tuppador suggestion. You can easily slide them under your bed. About the same age I got into cigars, 34 now. I just got into CC about six months ago. If only I had started Cubans at that age there would be so many aged boxes ready. Good luck on the journey

Get one of these and rinse it out.  I've been collecting a few years and I still have the bulk of mine in a tupperdor, along with a few desktops and a coolerador like the one above.

Just because a lot of people have fancy furniture for their cigars doesn't mean they're functionally much better.  The important thing is that you keep the temps fairly constant.

Buy regular production high quality from rob and use the largest cooler you can find, I get the Coleman 150qt for $50 US.  Put a large boveda 62 or zykar gel jar in their.  Done. Mon dieu do I wish I was 20!!!

The locker's always an option to if you want to hold a few boxes longer term...

Regardless, you'll never have enough space, nature abhors an unfilled humidor!

If temperature control is not a concern you can't go wrong with coolerdors.  That's all I had in college.

If you DO go the temperature control route and get a wineador route, don't fool yourself into thinking you'll only need something that can hold "a few boxes".  Buy something bigger than you think you'll need.  You'll grow into it.  Trust me. ;)

All the suggestions above are valid.

The ambient room temperature is the key.  If you can find somewhere in the house under 68F in the summer (like a basement) then you can get away with the coolidor approach.  Otherwise with a/c at 72F that will just have to do.  Much higher than 72F and you have some risks or need a winedor solution.

You don't need to spend lots of $$.  Get the RH% steady at +/- 65% and you are on your way...

Cheap wine fridge......check kijiji.....use it unplugged and buy and oasis or similar type of humidifier for a hundred bucks. Set and forget it.

Yup

Clean it

Leave it unplugged

Use beads (or the right kind of kitty litter)

add sticks

Done.

This is what I have, but sadly outgrew almost as soon as it arrived.  Worked great with 2lbs of heartfet beads.

I just bought this as well and by the time the RH stabilized it was virtually full.

That might be the deal of the century.  < $16 bones?  Nice.

And it holds humidity like a rock. I don't even use any type of humidification, just the adding of new boxes seems to keep me at a solid 60-62%

How about you stack this one on top.  40% off the $260 price = $156 delivered.  I bought a second one - couldn't resist for the price.  Holds a sh-tload of boxes.

Really a steal for the money....

I might have to.  This is actually causing me more stress than it should... but since I live in a hot location, the tupperdor or traditional tower is out of the question.  During the summer I can't get my house below 76 degrees

And here I sit wondering if I should spend $160 when in two hours our host will make a post that I won't hesitate to spend $500...

Done.  Purchased.  I hope you got commission!  If I had any shackles on my CC purchasing previously they are about to get torn right off.

True. Think I may go with the Tupperdore. Aesthetics is not my main prerogative, just functionality.

What would be the best way to regulate temps? It isn't very hot or humid in the house, so keeping it under 72 isn't that difficult.

I would simply smoke more often, clears up space quickly :D

Cheers! I'd love to...but unfortunately I'm not allowed to smoke in the house and -40C is not great cigar weather. :(

Thanks! Funny enough I started with Cubans, since they're readily available in Canada. :D

If your in Canada you shouldn't have any problems with temp. Just keep it in the basement where the temperature is stable. Be wary if you have in-floor heating, you might want to keep it off the ground. My place is consistently 64-66F downstairs year round and I'm guessing yours won't be much different. I've got a $30 Coleman cooler from Walmart that holds 65F/65rH with literally zero maintenance. No need for a wine cooler in our climate (unless you want it for looks). Just go the tupperdor/coolerdor route.

If you do not have huge temperature fluctuations, go to Walmart or the Container Store and buy some containers that have latches and a seal. They are cheap ($15) and with some heartfelt beads, they are a very effective way to store your cigars.
