For anyone interested - Today there's 40% off on the popular NewAir: http://www.air-n-water.com/freestanding-wine-coolers.htm#.

Great prices and free shipping.

Piggy may not like them, but if you think about it - even if you don't use the cooling...the 28 bottle will hold about 20 boxes of smokes in a sealed environment...so it's like buying a 500 count humidor for $156 with a nice glass door.

Just drill a hole in the back near the bottom and you can run a plug to install active humidification, fans, etc. If you're concerned about humidity leakage out the cooling fan vent, just put some gorilla tape over the grill that covers the cooling fan.

I need more space, cabinet is full and coolador is full so I'm getting one. I don't need the cooling in my basement so I'm thinking a few bags of HCM beads at 65%.shelves are removable right?

I'm sure this info is available via search, but what does this setup entail?  Do you plug them in for temp control, or from what I understand, people leave them unplugged due to condensation issues?  We can use Boveda packs or beads or whatever our preferred RH solution is?

I have had no issues yet but I'm really scared for my coolerdor.  Temps vary too much I fear.

If you need to control temp you plug it in.  You can leave it set close to the top temp which is 65 or 66F.  One caution - if you have a power surge the temp reverts to the lowest setting.  That's like 50 something degrees which will affect your RH% so I plug mine into an APC UPS backup battery to protect myself as we sometimes get a quick power flash where I live.

Unless you have ambient room temp of over 80F I doubt you'll see any condensation.

I used beads and you can use whatever you desire for RH control - including active systems like Oasis (you just have to feed the ribbon power cord out the door or drill a small hole for power).
