Now that's what I call blind investment! But don't worry, it really is a safe one. ;)

I felt super safe with it. Obviously I read a lot of reviews and feedback on it before buying. Now the boxes are aging and taking a break after a long travel.

I have several folks whose opinion I respect, and whose tastes are close enough to mine, that I'm willing to buy blind on their recommendation. They are a select few, as I've been burnt, early on in this journey, more than once believing "the consensus". My tastes seem to be a little different than the "majority".

This.  I don't go deep on anything without trying it unless there is so much overwhelming evidence to its excellence that I have no reason to doubt it, and it will likely become scarce before I have time to think twice.

This is probably the best reason for FOH's message boards existing, to get expert opinions from people whose opinions I value so I can make educated guesses on $200+ purchases I shouldn't be making so i dont regret it.

I completely agree. If it were not for FOH and other sources, I would never have considered it. However after reading all of the available reviews, including the video review on FOH of the Connie A, I was sold. In fact, two of the boxes are the exact same box code as the cigar in Rob's video review. The Connie A is still a young cigar as it was just released in 2013 so I can wait to smoke them secure that I made a good decision. If my palate changes, I am sure that I will not lack in people wanting to buy the aged cabs.

Connie A all the way. Just an absolutely gorgeous experience. Onto my second cab now and have not had one poor experience.

Should be renamed Connie A+.

I disagree. The Conn 1 and the Mag 46 can't be put in the same category - completely different cigars. Actually I think the Mag 46 was at the top of a category of lesser known (corona major and other tubos) or discontinued (Grand coronas, Amatistas) cigars — the “strong” side of H. Upmann.

Agreed.  I was very surprised to see that the Mag 46 was indeed very strong.

@busdriverany luck out of other boxes? I've loved what I've tried from a box of 08 and 13. I think I actually like the 13 better.

Good point.  I haven't tried other boxes of these but would be willing as a comparison.  So many sticks, such little time!

I love H. Upmann but have only had a couple Connie A so far and just smoked an April 2016 Connie 1.  Both are wonderful smokes.  For the dollars you cannot go wrong with the Connie 1, but you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you did not try both.  That said, I think the Connie 1 is smoking great with less than 1 year of age while the Connie A may need more time to knock my socks off (can taste the potential but my 1 year sticks are not quite there yet).

How do the Connie 1 & A compare to the Royal Robusto?

I have some 2011 Connie 1's and a box of 2012 Royal Robusto. I have found that the Connie 1 was more complex while the Royal Robusto was still a great cigar. I would recommend either.
