This forum looks like a wealth of knowledge! I look forward to diving in more and learning. I'm particularly interested in learning as much as I can about Cuban culture and of course their fine cigars, especially since I'd love to travel there now, which has been a dream for quite some time.

I'm particularly interested in learning as much as I can about Por Larranaga. I worked in a tobacco shop in 1996, just fresh out of high school, during the crazy Christmas rush that exploded with the newfound popularity of cigars that year (thanks Arnold!). I soaked up everything I could about cigars, and smoked most of my paycheck. Anyways, the interest in Por Larannaga is about my only interesting story to share in my journey with cigars and it wasn't even Cuban. With cigars being the hottest selling Christmas gift that year, I was selling about $4000 worth of cigars in a day. My holiday "bonus" as a part-time employee was a Por Larranaga from the owner of the business, that came from his private stock. Even after working thru hundreds of cigars by that time, I still found the Por Larranaga the most impressive to my young palate at the time. It's been 20 years since then and I finally picked up a few more and now I'm excited to hopefully try the Cuban versions.

Sorry for the long first post, but I didn't want to just dump the generic "hello".

Welcome to FOH! PLs are usually very good smokes, specially suited for "fresher" (not necessarily unexperienced) palates, IMO.

Welcome to FOH from Houston, TX! Plenty of Por Larranaga to be had. Rob has been recommending the Picadores and the Petit Coronas lately, although I believe the Petit Coronas may require a little more time down in the humidor before reaching their potential. If I remember correctly, he says the Picadores are smoking great right now. Enjoy!
