mcease022 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 I have two questions in this thread because I didn't want to take up two threads. The first is as the title states - what cigar took you on the biggest journey from start to finish (the one that evolved and changed the most) the second question is what cigar gave you the most "stone fruit" while smoking. It doesn't have to be present throughout, but a good amount in parts of the cigar.
Bohn007 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Biggest journey was the Cohiba Piramides Mellinium 2000. Not sure about the stone fruit.
JohnS Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 The cigar that evolved for me the most would have to be the H.Upmann Noella. The last one I had went from light shortbread and creamy to strong espresso coffee by the end. As for stone fruit, if you mean like apricot or peach or plum, perhaps H.Upmann Magnum 50 or Saint Luis Rey Serie A. 2
Philc2001 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Biggest journey recently (3-4 months) for me would be between 1999 Partagas Lonsdale and 2002 Partagas Lusitanias, with honorable mention to 2001 Punch Monarcas. Truly transported me to another realm with marvelous flavor and great evolution of flavors that held my attention for over 2 hours each. Fantastic!

The reason for that particular question was actually because I had a Mag50 that gave me those peach/apricot notes that I love. Curious to see what else is out there with those flavours. 1
Smallclub Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 1/ Good Lusitanias, and/or Cohiba Sublimes Extra (2008 Collecicon Habanos Series, in the book-shaped box) 2/ SLR DC
Notsocleaver Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Cuaba Salomones has been the most complex fresh cigar I have had recently. Aged HdM du prince has taken me on almost as much of a journey in half the time.
zeedubbya Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Sir Winston recently for a journey. Flavor explosion all over the place with that awesome Upmann tobacco spine as the conductor. While I agree with SLRDC, my favorite everyday stone fruit cigar is RASCC--it's like a quick hit of peach or apricot jam. 1
Smoke6 Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 H. Upmann Super Corona.........too bad HSA discontinued this vitola. I remember scoring a box in Germany while stationed there in 2004. The woodsy, leather and earth flavors from that cigar took me on several relaxing journeys. I remember that they had a certain amount of nuttiness to them. Construction and burn on all were impeccable.
elam370 Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Probably the last Montecristo Sublime 2008 or that 2011 Trinidad Fundadores I had a while back. The most stonefruity cigar were those SLR Regios when I first got them and currently Punch DCs.
busdriver Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 In terms of change in body and flavors; HDM DC gives me that in spades. For me i can really experience the "different thirds" in a great example of a large vitola. Fruity flavors for me come from RA Allones. But that flavor can be a challenge for me to experience.
earthson Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 1 is '09 vintage HU Mag 50. I miss those dearly. 2 is recent production HU Mag 50.
RijkdeGooier Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 1.Nicest journey lately a n 80's Davidoff Laguito 1 combined with a Chateau Petrus. 2 Most stonefruit RyJ No. 1 Tubos from 2007. 1
Colt45 Posted November 2, 2016 Posted November 2, 2016 1. Romeo y Julieta Exhibicion No.4 PUL EOOO (September 1999) Given to me by Professor Twain, recommended to him by Tampa1257. My synopsis was "complex masterpiece" - it's the first cigar that comes to mind whenever this kind of discussion comes around.
