Bohn007 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I have a buddy that wants to buy my humidor. This humidor fits 50-75 cigars and was made by Savinelli in Milan, Italy. Anyone have an idea what I should ask for it?
PigFish Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I have no idea, but it is a beautiful box. Lets say it is worth $100... Why sell it? People have been giving me wooden humidors for years (knowing I smoke cigars). The nicer ones I keep and put cigar accessories in. So maybe you get a wine cooler or Aristo, plop this on the top and put your cutters, lighters and travel tubes in there. I would not get rid of that. I would not put cigars in it but what the hell, you can store cigar stuff in there and it will be really classy! 2cents... -the Pig 4
zeedubbya Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I have one of those myself, can't seem to find much info on Savinelli other than they make great pipes? Old old guy at work gave it to me--it has a smell which is a little different from all my other humidors. I am curious if anyone else has any info on these?
Bohn007 Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 CA rated Savinelli and Davidoff as their top two humidors in the '90's. http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/Humidors-Savinelli-and-Davidoff_7694
zeedubbya Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I'll be damned it is a different wood. I always thought it was. It seems the opposite of what the article says though. The wood seems more fragrant to me than Spanish cedar. It's definitely different. Thanks for sharing @Bohn007!

Holds my cutters, lighters, tubes and some Bovedas.
BarryNY Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Unless you have a ton of other unused humidors I love them for holding things other than cigars...however: There's a used small black one made in Italy on Ebay. 10x8x4 for $80. There's a new one 25ct for $195 - not as nice as yours... And I found this: Price: 250 USD Elegant large Savinelli humidor made with burl wood .Made in Italy. Holds up to 75 cigars. Savinelli humidity control system and hydrometer included Brand new in the original box, never used. I have had this humidor for over 15 years, just found in my storage. The original price which is still on the box was $499.99.

iannai169 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I have a larger savinelli. I've had it for years. Got it used. Nice box. Holds humidity well. I know when they were new they were overpriced. They were trying to sell them for the same as Prometheus which are much nicer. Savinelli got out of the humidor business around 2011. They still make pipes. You can find used Savinelli's online every once in a while usually for $60 - $80 for small around $100 for the large.

Put my old glass top desktop humi on top of my Wineador, and I dump my bands in it. Along with storing my lighter and cutter. Looks great and serves its purpose much better than what it was originally intended for.
Colt45 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 I guess if I hadn't been using it, he was a good friend, and I knew he was going to use it, I'd make it a gift. Otherwise I think I'd agree with trading for some cigars. 3

That being said, I sold him the humidor but threw in some great ultra premium nc's and a couple of Monte #2's in it to help get him started.
