Ethernut Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Hulk, Smash! I tried to like it. Really I did.. I think this one is easily 5 yrs old.
Profmd Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Too bad. Havent had one do that before, and have had many boxes. My favourite NC cigar by miles. 1

Have had a few decent ones. This one was like smoking cardboard. Went to a CoRo and it's whipping it's fanny like a screen door in a tornado.. 1

I'm basically trying to weed down my NC stock right now. Will go quick at this rate... ?? 1

MahDooRow Posted October 24, 2016 Posted October 24, 2016 That's too bad E. The Ashton VSG is still one of the NCs that I really enjoy. But if you got a bad one it's best that you gave it an early burial and moved to the CoRo. I like happy endings. 2
Popular Post Ethernut Posted October 24, 2016 Author Popular Post Posted October 24, 2016 I will NOT smoke a crappy cigar no matter if it's $2 or $30. if I don't like it, out it goes! ? 5
aes8 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Before they changed the bands (and blend, imo) these were some of the best NC ever. They are still pretty good but I think some of that older leaf now goes into the Opus X and all the other obscure and obscenely expensive sticks they produce. I bought about 7 boxes of the old blend and bands about 2 years ago and I'm down to one box of CG and one box of Spellbounds. 1
spicycorona Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Yea, I loved those back about 8- 10 years ago. There's a clear remembrance of a sharp decline though. Not too many clear memories like that. Another was the Oliva Master Blends 3. I had a few fantastic ones and that was it. I would have been better off rolling up some dried oak leaves for the rest. There is still a small portion of my humidor reserved for Opus though. Not sure I've had a bad one, and they're still on my special occasion list.
JohnS Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I think I read somewhere that Ashton was(is?) Bill Cosby's favourite cigar brand. (It) Makes me think twice about smoking an Ashton.

Hurltim Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Clinton was a Davidoff Double "R" smoker IIRC. I really enjoy the Ashton Symmetry series. Similar to CC's as far as flavors and complexity. Kinda like a HdM minus the cream but heavy on the baking spices. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Orion21 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 VSG used to be my favorite NC back in the day. By back in the day I mean 2008-2009. They were medium bodied with a nice milk chocolate profile. I remember I had one who's ash held for 3/4 of the cigar. I'd never seen anything like it. Very similar to the Cuban EL program cigars from 2009-2012.
