Blind Tasting Mystery Stick #1

Having been gifted a sampler of mystery sticks by an FOH Brother, I set about the beginnings of a smoking adventure today.  The victim...a beautiful pyramid with a plain white band and the #1 written on it.  Winter is around the corner in these parts and I don't smoke much in the cold (sometimes subzero temperatures set in), so I didn't allow for much nap time, maybe a week of acclimation.  Now the good stuff!  This was an absolute stunner, I mean it was absurd how good this cigar was.  Coffee, short bread, earth, and a touch of pepper here and there.  It had terrific balance throughout and the depth of the flavors was impressive indeed.

So what was this beauty?  My guess...Upmann No.2, or maybe a Partagas.  WRONG!  The correct answer...VR Unicos!

HA!  I didn't even read what you posted other than the title, scrolled down to the pics and said to myself "that's a VR Unico".   And I can barely get 1 out of 5 on Pres' Blind Tasting Competition after smoking them...

Yep, I foresee an 0 for 6 record forthcoming, but if the smokes are that good, I can live with it.

Awesome read. I had my first one of these a few weeks back and it was also a cracker. I look forward to reading the next blind reviews you do.

Definitely a great smoke!  The deer have a habit of photobombing my pics, but I do enjoy watching (and listening, they're quite vocal it turns out) them.

Had a VR fomosos last night purchased from our host recently , 2016 box. Smelled young but beautifully oily..I always try one rott just to see where the potential will be. I am not one to post much as far as reviews but this was one of the best smokes I have had in 2016. A little mongrel right now but when they mellow they will be epic. Purged many times in the final third but was still just excellent. 

Will be contacting Rob to try and get another with the same code. 

VR is one of the most overlooked marcas IMO . 

Overlooked indeed, I've smoked a couple that were crackers this year...a safe bet getting another box!

Having never smoked one but curious from the reviews here...I picked up a PSP/HQ box of the Unicos during Tuesday's 24:24.........

Oh yeah! The Famosos are under the radar for the most part. Just flat out tasty and complex. I did notice that it preferred to be smoked a bit on the slow side. Might want to try that on your next go around. Not as slow as the BRC but close.
