Hello!

Only recently discovered this awesome forum. Did a quick search but didn't find a recent Monte review thread, if i'm posting this in the wrong place please correct me.

I'm very interested in trying the Montecristo Petit Edmundo and want to pick up a box of 10 but I can't find much on how they smoke fresh vs aged. I was going to give them about a month to recover before trying one, but will probably burn up this box fairly quick (within a year or 2). Has anyone had any recent boxes they can comment on?

Thanks

Hi mate those are a couple of recent reviews including from myself. Don't know about the 15's or 16's don't even know if they have been produced this year yet I assume they have.

In my view Monte PE's smoke well young. vibrant coffee cream flavour. havent smoked a ton but have certainly tried across several boxes. consistently good. my 2c

Never smoked an aged one but mine from 2015 are very good. Someone above said vibrant coffee and cream, sums it up for me.

Buy 'em and try 'em..........that's how to learn.

That's how we did it back in the dark ages, before the inner net.

that's what we have here.......

m8,hope this help you

when i try something new , i will try to gather information online, i remember james suckling tastes 2 same ringauge cigars : Petit Edmundo,  and Trinidad Reyes.

hmm, in my own opinion, dark coffee tasting, little bit earthy , strong spicy feeling, good complexity, balance structure, powerful cigars than regular Edumndo, good daily smoking cigar . 1/3 , u get this burning feeling ,

But Hoyo Get this Petit Rubusto , even better, but try it m8 , they are all good cigars , give a try .

I'll join in the 'chorus' here and add how I also enjoy Montecristo Petit Edmundos young. Then again, I've had aged ones and they've been good too. For me, they're not better or preferable, just different. With the mellowing of the pre-dominant 'Monte' cocoa/chocolate, I find that aged PE's are like 'milk chocolate' to the 'dark chocolate' of young PE's.

in the past 3-4 weeks i've smoked through half a box from dec 15, and they are excellent - lots of great classic monte flavors

though there's some ammonia that pops up from time to time and wrecks things

I have had a few from a box of SOM Nov 15 and they have all been, in El Presidente's dictionary, CRACKERS.  Looking to pick up another box if the same box code shows up.

My last box was July '15 that I recieved in Sept. '15 that was awful! They finally came around with 11 months of sleep!

I prefer PEs fresh. Sometimes they loose a bit of their richness after a few years. Still a good cigar, but I try to smoke them all before they hit the 2 year mark. Try to get some HQ or PSP's from Rob, they are really good.

I've got a seconds box from Mar 15 that are flavour bombs, but the odd one has been a touch off for me, but still excellent. A little more time down and they will probably be right in my sweet spot.
