I am making changes in this department as well. I've always known that I am a 'work to live' person, rather than 'live to work'. But I have not acted that way for the past few years. Flipping the script feels great 1
dicko Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I have started waking up at 6:30 am instead of 8 am every morning. Been reasonably consistent with this over a few months now. 1
Hurltim Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 A dislocated bicep tendon and working my tail off for crap money got my work/life into balance. 3 years later I have doubled my pay and get 4 weeks PTO. I love my overtime as long as I get to play just as hard as I work.I have an unbelievable wife I want to spend as much time with as I can. No job or boss will care as much about you as the ones who love you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
sikfrayme Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 I have just started my journey to losing my goal weight of 30Lbs and keep it off. I have a weakness for mexican food, and the drive thru convenience on the way home for an easy dinner has not been good to me. And of course football Sundays, that are spent with the fellas with a few beers and everything your doctor tells you to avoid. Good luck to everyone on their journey and hats off to those of you who have already shed the weight!
Joker Posted October 18, 2016 Posted October 18, 2016 Following almost a year of physio to get over a frozen shoulder (due to inactivity & poor posture whilst at work) implemented the following over the course of this year: Amended diet by gradually reducing quantity and minimising processed foods. 5 days on, relaxed rules for weekends. Shed 5kg, down to my optimal weight After a couple of months on diet, joined gym with my brother, great for mutual support. 3 sessions a week. Aerobic & slight muscle toning - feel great Over the last couple of months have also added meditation into my daily regime. Great way to clear the mind, & focus on tasks at hand As per Dicko, I have also started getting up early @ 5am Overall feel hell of a lot better for it, and able to just keep up with my teenage sons?? 2
luv2fly Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Up at 05:15. Wife and i walk 2.5 miles 5 times a week. Trying to eat better and get to bed at a reasonable and constant hour. Need to lose 60 lbs. And second the work to personal life balance. Not easy but nothing worthwhile ever is...IMHO. 1
moryc Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 For me its weight loss as well. I have been hitting the gym 5 times a week cardio plus weights. Right now I am off the weights for a little while as I am dealing with a tennis elbow (don't play tennis, just not thinking and making repetitive movements). I started last year with long walks with the dog and progressed to interval running (4:30 minutes walk 1 minute sprint). At the beginning of this year started the gym with the above routine and in the spring added the same sprinting routine on top of that. The food is the most important, and I am struggling cuz I love food, good food and I like to cook. I get one cheat day a week, so that is the only way I make it through this. Lost 50 lb so far. 1
feral Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Interesting, I've never heard of Wim Hof but saw he did a podcast with Joe Rogan so I'll have to listen to it later I do love my cold showersBMWBEN, coincidently there's a new Joe Rogan interview of Wim Hof up this week. An amazing guy changing scientific beliefs about human physiology.

She's never been fooled by anything in her life.....I believe she tends to look the other way and pick her battles..... Funny you say this... my wife has said the same thing lately to others regarding our relationship. It's all about understanding where each of us are, our likes and interests and letting the little stuff go. 1

Orion21 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I started my journey towards getting back in shape in January of this year and I haven't let up since. I have lost 45lbs of fat, while gaining 15 lbs of new lean muscle mass. My focus is now on training to improve my performance, times and stamina. The easiest part of the whole process so far was the first three months. I cut my calories, improved my food quality and exercised on a schedule. I dropped 20 lbs almost in a blink of an eye. But the byproduct of that success was I lowered my metabolism so much I plateaued for another 2 months afterwards. I went to see someone who is an exercise scientist and nutritionist. She opened my eyes to how much I was doing incorrectly. For the last 5+ month I have focused on eating more (at the right times in the right quantities) to increase my metabolism and the results are amazing. My body has shed fat, while gaining muscle and I feel great. Lots of energy throughout the day. I feel like I'm 25 again and it's a lot of fun. 3
irratebass Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 As of yesterday I started my journey to lose weight, and get into shape. I'm 47 and feel like I'm in my mid 50's, I'm 6'5" and weigh 320, all my life I've struggled with my weight, and will lose it, but gain it back. A couple of years ago I got a treadmill from my mom, and I lost 19lbs, not much I know, but I was happy. It was a hand me down and eventually broke. I gained it all back + some....I actually miss the treadmill. I do occasionally walk the dog, and I'm sure every little bit helps.I work a pt job at a cigar shop, so working out is really not a very good option (not an excuse) since when I'm not working I want to spend time with the family. I am "retiring" from the shop this upcoming March, because I've been in the cigar "industry" for 4yrs, and I'm just tired of working so much, and missing a lot with my wife and 10yr old stepson. So, as of yesterday I started tracking my food with an app. Also, I'm trying to get another job, since the one I'm in now I am not happy with and it's very stressful.So...yeahSent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk 2
Popular Post Jimmy_jack Posted October 27, 2016 Popular Post Posted October 27, 2016 I need to get back into the gym. I went from 335lbs to 215lbs in about 18 months. I did this via eating right and CrossFit/Body Building. A new work schedule the last few months has thrown a wrench into the works. I'm still eating smart for the most part, just tired and not getting into the gym as much. Definitely lost muscle mass. 5
DougB Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Congrats to everyone! I think that anytime I make a move towards greater health it is always beneficial. For me I am working to eliminate refined sugar in my diet (pretty much there), more meditation, more fresh air and better muscle structure and health...I also started playing in a band, again, which is always good for the mojo.
Blazer Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 Working on my social media marketing skills. SM is something i avoided like the plague, but as the owner of a small business it is a cost of doing business. While I don't enjoy the time spent on the various sites I do enjoy developing creative content that leads to engagement with potential customers and I am absolutely fascinated by the back end analytics.
Hurltim Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 @Jimmy_jack DUDE!!! That's 3/4's of a Back Street Boy you lost!!!! ::Bows Deeply:: I put on some weight after the wedding so I need to get back on track as well. I have an out of town project that starts next month so now I have to find a gym and figure out how to do my smoothies in a hotel. LOL! 1
