Super Parti 3/3rd ammonia?

I have a box of Super Partis ULA May 15 that I had really enjoyed. But lately, the 3rd third has has an unmistakable ammonia aroma. I don't think I detected It in the first half of the box, but my palate may just not have been developed enough.  It's really ruining the cigars from me.  There if no cold aroma of ammonia. This worries me because I thought Super Parti would be my go to morning smoke for weekend mornings.  Do you think age will correct it?  Any thoughts?

I don't know how you can smoke a Super Partagas in the morning, to me it's a strong cigar, very tannic. What you're experiencing is not ammonia but a normal accumulation at the end of a strong young cigar.

I am a regular smoker of these Partagas offerings (Super Partagas/Petit Corona Especiales/Aristocrats/Mille Fleur/etc.) and I often find the 3rd third very messy when the cigar is less than 2-3 years old…

I have a box from FEB 14.

I wouldn't call the last third as having an ammonia aroma but just a normal punch in the mouth from a strong cigar.

I've never had the Super Parti in the morning, too strong for me too.

Ammonia (odor/flavor) is a normal by-product of under fermentation. The only remedy is time. I'd wait six month and try another, if ammonia still present, wait another 6.

Here the thing, no ammonia is present until the last 3rd. That is not my understanding of how ammonia works in under aged cigars.

Then it's not ammonia. It's the accumulation of tar, gases, nicotine, etc. which causes a pungent reminiscent of ammonia.

When ammonia is present, it's present almost from start.

I used to experience this in many of my cigars till a wise old man asked me how long a cigar took me to smoke. This same wise old man told me in these exact words "you big dummy, cigars are to be slowly savored, enjoyed, used for the purposes of relaxation and ponderings of whats important to you." Since I dont know you I wont say you big dummy. However, I would ask the same question maybe in a different manner has something in your smoking time changed to cause you to hurry the smoke even a little? I can say without question I never get the ammonia/sulfur smell or taste anymore unless my big dumb self gets in a hurry again.

Smoking too fast may be the problem, as the wise old man said.  A Super Partagas is 5.5 x 40.  Smoking time should be around an hour for that stick.

Not sure what the problem is, the time I ran into ammonia it was a box of Behike 56's of all things, and it was there at cold.  Time cured that.  Likewise the sharp bite in the last third of any new cigar, time cured those issues as well.

I'd put those puppies down for another year and then have at them.  Odds are in your favor that time will solve your problem, regardless of what's at issue.

Yea may be getting too hot and unpleasant from heat. Also, sometimes if my cut is too small I accumulate tar on the hole which tastes very bitter. Extremely distinct. Allowing the stick to cool more between burns usually removed this.
