This makes me ill.  Right now I see extremely limited benefit to current American enthusiasts, and plenty of downside.

I like things how they are right now. I order from our host. I chill out for a 8-12 days. Then the nice lady from the Postal Service brings me amazing cigars right to my door. All at the touch of a li

"Sorry American couch potatoes: You can't order Cuban rum and cigars online and have them shipped to your home."   LMAO

Guy could make a pretty coin by dumping all their clothes out of their suitcase and filling it with cigars for the trip home and reselling them. I would be willing to bet there will be some people why do that.

Just in time for my December trip. Just means I get to bring back more customs and maybe a few special sticks if I can find them.

I don't think this only applies to cigars/rum purchased directly from Cuba, at least according to the article:

"Under the new rules, travelers can purchase unlimited quantities of Cuban rum and cigars in any country where they are sold so long as they are for personal consumption."

It's great news for Americans. I presume customs limits will apply the same as tobacco or spirits from anywhere else.

On everything declared, that is.

Isnt there an amount customs limit?

I believe from Cuba Gov it's 50 without receipt but others may have more current info. Only issue I see is that boxes have to be sealed ( luck if the draw) and must have receipt from LCDH but not an issue for me that's the only place I'm buying them.

From the same article

Americans is the removal of the five-decade ban on Cuban rum and cigars. The Obama administration partially lifted that ban already, allowing Americans traveling directly to Cuba to return home with up to $100 in rum and cigars in their carry-on luggage. Now, that monetary restriction is removed and U.S. citizens can purchase as much Cuban tobacco and alcohol as they want from anywhere they find the products abroad.

I was getting ready to post this article, thanks for initiating  the good group discussion.  This is an excellent step towards better relations.  Soon, I believe the travel restrictions will be removed as well for US citizens.

And from US?

According to the article you can bring back as many CC cigars and Rum as you want from any foreign country as long as they are for personal use. So as long as you follow the Cuba guidelines going out, and it's for personal use I think we're good to go from the US perspective. Again for me it just means more customs. I can buy a good boxes right here for our host.

So now every yahoo will think they can bring Cubans into the US and sell for big profit!!! Not to mention they will bring in more counterfeits because they will attempt to buy as cheap as possible of course...

Progress.  :ok:  The limit on tobacco is 200 cigs and 100 cigars.  After that duty is charged.  Not sure what that would amount to $ wise but next time the wife and I are overseas will give it a go.

I read on the Customs website that the boarder officer is allowed to decide if you exceed what they think is beyond personal use.  Edit:  That appears to apply to alcohol and not tobacco.  I could not afford to exceed the limit so not an issue here.

See here: https://www.ttb.gov/tax_audit/atftaxes.shtml for duty estimates for alcohol/tobacco above duty-free limit. Looks like 'large' cigars would be roughly $0.40/each.

Just in time for my Spain trip in three weeks. Jokes aside, I'll have to do some deeper digging to find out if my 5th box is going to have a $200 duty levied.

Why $200?

Apologies if this is forbidden to ask here, but what is the best site to purchase Cuban rum from, for shipping to USA?

Sorry, this cannot be discussed publicly here.

Please keep the thread on topic. Thanks!
