Ramon Allones Ramonitas : Circa 2002 or earlier : RA Review Comp 2016

Was gifted this lovely little guy from a great BOTL. It probably would have sat in my humidor for who knows how long as I never even knew this existed until it showed up at my doorstep. One of those "I'll never see this again, so perhaps I should just hold on to it" type of smokes. But now it got to see its fulfillment as every good little cigar should. But enough rambling...

Here we have the Ramonitas. A vitola called Carolinas measuring 26 x 121 (4.8"). I don't have a box code, but they were discontinued in 2002 so it's at least 14 years old. In the photos you'll see it compared to a Vigia (54rg), Short (42), and Demi Tasse (30rg). Just a little guy with a perfect little dimple. (bonus!)

The cigar smoked very well in the rising sun with great construction. Not too tight, nor too loose. Just right. Lasted about 30-35min. It was very cool and smooth smoke rather muted for the first half then showing some persona in the second half. Here are the raw, unfiltered flavor notes I wrote down:

Smooth
Cinnamon
Sultry
Creamy
Sweet spices
Like a grandpa telling stories

Overall, this was a fun cigar to smoke. Fun because no matter what size our cigars come in they all have a story to share with us. Some more entertaining than others of course and this particular story was worth hearing.

Great review fabes!  I enjoyed the simple flavor notes, along with the great pics.

I have some of the last of the Carolinas, the Punch Margarita, discontinued in 2009.  I love them.  Simple, rustic little cigar...but always great.  They look just like the Ramonitas, in that the band looks way oversized for the cigar.
