Cmelle Posted October 1, 2016 Posted October 1, 2016 Montecristo No.2 One of my go to cigars. Most people associate a good Montecristo with flavours such as coco and milk coffee. I agree, but i also occasionally get a sour woody note from Monte 2's, that i absolutely love. To me, it's that tangy wood note that seperates a good Monte 2, from an amazing Monte 2. The aroma of this box is magnificent. One of my more stronger boxes when it comes to aroma. It hits you like a slap to the face, I love it. The predraw gives a hint of coco and a bit of straight tobacco. The previous box of Monte 2s i had (OPG box code), started off slow and really opened up midway. Definitely not the case with this Monte 2. Quite the opposite. First puffs exploded with flavor. I get that amazing tangy wood note, accompanied by coco and milk coffee. A hint of salt. It's like a nice piece of cedar dipped in sweet n sour sauce, then the finish is all classic Monte flavors, coco and milk coffee. At this point, definitely a mid to high 90's cigar. I am loving it. Second third continued to amaze. The flavors blend together more. Instead of getting the tangy wood first, followed by the coco and milk coffee, they were all hitting at once Magical. Mid second third, the body dropped from medium full to just under medium . Still delicious, but the flavors are not as intense. Last third the tangy wood dies off and in comes some leather and dark coffee notes. A few bitter puffs but not more than a few. Overall a very delicious cigar. If the flavor intensity remained like the first third, I'd be saying this is definitely a high 90 cigar. None the less, a classic Monte 2... 1
