jcorona Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 If you had to choose one box of minutos to buy now from current (recent 2015-16) production, which one would you buy? and what would be your close second? feel free to explain why. Criteria is enjoyable flavorful smoke, not price. My favorite marcas right now are hoyo and monte but looking to expand my palate: Partagas shorts Scdlh el principe Rascc bcj trini reyes I've included the trini reyes, although not a minuto, but it's close enough in size 40x110 1
NSXCIGAR Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 2014-2015 is El Principe, no question. Followed by BCJ, which when it's on, is better than the El Principe, but there's just too much inconsistency for me to put it #1. Might get only 5/25 great BCJ vs. 20/25 great El Principe. My experience from about 10 boxes of each over the last 2 years. I have had some really great BCJ though, from 2011-2015. 95-96 pointers all day. Just so sad when it was done. El Principe usually tops out at a solid 92-93 for me. But consistency gets the nod from me here. 2
Sophistic Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 bcj, but would buy huhc and monte 5 over any of those. 1
LordAnubis Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 How do you define "Enjoyable flavour smoke"? What do you like? My favourite brand is Bolivar or HUpman, with PC being favourite size. I would either buy BCJ or HUHC. 1
JohnS Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 If just one, I would choose the San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe too. Having said this, I've had some tremendously satisfying Partagas Shorts and Trinidad Reyes lately. All the best with your choice!

Not the little powerhouses of old, but Cigar Crack IMO. x2 here. Party Shorts are very consistent to me. RASCC would be second. Would be #1 if it was more consistent. You're going to get so many varying responses to this question. It's all about what profile you like. Read some reviews by the more experienced people on here and see what flavors sound best to you. Or just buy all 5 boxes. Every cigar in your list is a fantastic little smoke, and you can get 125 of them for around same price as a box of higher end Cohiba. 25 Siglo 6 (which is an epic cigar, don't get me wrong) or 125 of the above. It's a no brainer to me.
ComancheKeen Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Like them all but if choosing just one it would be El Príncipe, no question.
subport Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Cannot decide. Love them all. Used to be shorts in the first place but lately bcj and principe took over. Anything out of the 3. Rascc is the 4th mainly because of constraction issues... Buy them all. Wont be disappointed either way... 1
Troels Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 Had luck finding some boxes og Reyes from 2010 a little while back - they would be my choise - but both rascc and shorts are in my overall top ten I think - and they are good young as well as aged
Smallclub Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 I usually keep most of them in my rotation (minus the Bcj as I always have some Bpc); the El Principe is my favorite. As for the Reyes I'd buy them only from a vendor who checks for quality. For a similar smoking time you should consider the Upmann half corona… 2
Ethernut Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 [In reply to, or rather finishing the sentence of the subject of the OP] ....I would exercise patience and wait for Minutos to appear on the 24:24's with words like "Gorge on them" or "Smoke them now" and buy that box no matter what it was. (for background on my thought process/buying process see the thread in my signature) Love the Minutos Vitola and don't envy your dilemma! Cheers!
cigcars Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 *I thought Minutos were those 1/3 the thickness of regular cigarette sized smokes, i.e. One Minute smokes Those smokes you gave us the options of choosing are actually Petite Coronas, or tres petite coronas, aren't they?

Minutos - 110 x 42 rg only 4 left (reg production) on the market. Partagas shorts, bolivar corona juniors, ra small club coronas, scdlh el principe. petit corona is only 19mm longer with the same 42 rg

You're confusing with the "Puritos", that are/were usually a "chicos" vitola (106mmx29rg). I think the only one left is the Guantanamera Puritos. The Quintero Puritos was available everywhere in Europe, like the Partagas Chicos.

Every one just makes me mad that there's no Marevas with the El Principe, Shorts or RASCC blends. Argh! At least there's the Boli PC, but what I wouldn't give for a Mareva or Corona with the El Principe blend. 1
JZBdano Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 El Principe if I had to pick one box to smoke through. Party Shorts if I could only smoke one Minuto for the rest of my life only because it's fuller bodied. If I'm in the mood for a full smoke in 30-45 minutes the EI P may leave me wanting more at the nub. Can't go wrong with any of them, but El P are on point right now.

But is that Guantanamera really a cigar?! Lol re, le doesn't count. I only meant regular production. and on top you asked about those four plus the reyes 1
garbandz Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 El Principe by a mile. Guantanamera is not a cigar, it is an abomination............. 3
RijkdeGooier Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 jcorona, Only those with the status 'current' can be easily had. Given your preference for Monte and Hoyo - go with the SCdlH El Principe. 1
ErikB Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 I love them all , however if I had to go with one it'd be Party ShortsVerzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk
subport Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 Just pick the one which shows up first on 24:24 1
