Smoking Ninja Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 So a cigar buddy of mine traveled to Cuba couple years ago and got this. He said it was one of the rarest cigars and only a few hundreds were produced by Partagas factory. I took his word and gave him a Cohiba EL 1966 in return of the favor. After I got the smoke, I was not entirely sure it was legit. I let it sit for awhile and last night when I reorganized my humidor I saw this again and thought about bringing it up to the forum. I googled it and couldn't find any detail info about this Partagas 15th year anniversary pig tail Robusto extra size cigar. It does have a pretty dark wrapper and it is not all that smooth. Anyone here could confirm this is a real deal? What are your thoughts? Maybe I will just smoke it this week and see...
Smoking Ninja Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 Better pics. I don't think it is real.... However the aroma is pretty decent.. Should I smoke it!?
Smoking Ninja Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 Thanks, I wonder if they produce any other sizes or shapes. I can't find any info about pig tail style for this anniversary series. I guess that confirms that it is not legit after all..
potpest Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 There are a few of these on UK auction sites for previous auctions. They have the same bands and come in books or a humidor shaped like the partagas factory. I can't see if they have pigtail caps but are 54 x 6 size.Looks like they are from 2008
ATGroom Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 These are effectively house customs from the Partagás LCDH - they change the band every year or so, or for special occasions like their festival, various anniversaries etc, but they're always some variation on yours with the picture of the factory. Sometimes they also add their band to regular production in addition to the normal band. Cigars are sold as singles, and in a wide range of limited run custom humidors. Huge range of sizes. They're not an official production of Habanos SA, but they're as real as any custom cigar from a store roller.
garbandz Posted September 3, 2016 Posted September 3, 2016 Nino's blog also showed some pics of some fakes of this cigar. can anyone find the reference?
Smoking Ninja Posted September 3, 2016 Author Posted September 3, 2016 So I guess it is a legit custom CC? The pigtail cap is done right just like the cap on the Cohiba 1966. If it is a fake, it is well constructed and rolled fake I guess... From what I can recall, I got this back in 2010 time frame so I guess he must got this back in 2008 or early 2009. 1

Not of that specific cigar - but of the 20th Anniv. Partagas Encuentro with an added EL band ... and many more :-) See : http://flyingcigar.de/startseite/of-fakes-arrests-fear-and-survival/ I've smoked the 15-th Encuentro Anniv. cigar with that band, but it was a 109 Conde vitola - no pigtail. 1
