PigFish Posted September 7, 2016 Posted September 7, 2016 ...hmmm, back-peddler! Learned something else new today. They make sicgars (intentional) outside of Isla Cuba. When did all this start to happen? -Piggy

lonederranger Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 FYI, Habanos S.A. freezes all cigars destined for export in Havana. So, are they "stoopid" (correct spelling: STUPID) too? Thanks for the grammatical correction old chap, how stoopid of me to think I could use light hearted language on a forum. Yeah I should have been clearer, I am not talking about freezing on a commercial scale, this is an accepted practice and pretty important. Freezing at domestic level is what I disagree with. Some boxes of cigars go through quite a few hands by the time they reach our humidors. Vintage and HTF boxes can pass from one person to the next like the village bike before being smoked. It is my opinion that every time someone freezes a box the quality of the cigars is compromised. So yes on a commercial level it is of course an accepted necessity to freeze in order to lower the probability of bug infestations and the like. On a domestic level it is my opinion that the practice of freezing everything that comes in is unnecessary and contributes to the degradation of your smokes. Hope that's clearer NYgarman

It is bug free, but rests in someones humidor for 3 years when he introduces some custom Monsdales and assorted Cuban sourced customs and/or boxes in late 2013. . You have now reached ground zero again. You purchases his 2010 purchased box in 2014. He may have kept his humidor at under 18 degrees centigrade...or maybe not. You are clueless unless you know how he stores all of his cigars The chances of beetle or larvae in Cuban sourced product I reckon at 10%.
lonederranger Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Absolutely Rob, I have to admit that I take a chance in my methods. Maybe my luck has made me bold
