when will these two imbeciles get banned? they make hope solo look like the queen. tomic and kyrgios - nothing but utter classless scum.

every time. it is almost as though they have money on it to see who can be worse.

krygios swears his way through his game and the 'dumber-than-sand' tomic has a special day. in his interview after the game, from the guardian - "He suggested an enforcement of basic etiquette". seriously? this is tomic suggesting this. moments earlier, during his loss (no idea who he played but i was behind them 100%), he told someone in the crowd... "suck my balls (apols but i am quoting)". and then, "i will put my balls in your mouth". AND HE WANTS AN ENFORCEMENT OF ETIQUETTE? IS HE SO STUPID?

then he told someone in the crowd he would give them money to make them happy. please put him in jail.

but dear old dumbo was not finished. apparently when delusion strikes, it comes in really big doses. "Golf, tennis, I think we respect one another and the crowd... tennis. It’s a very respectful sport. It’s a very respected sport. I think it should be that way.” i'm not making this up - quotes from the guardian.

suck my balls, apparently that now falls into "respectful". i am old enough now to change my view to not wishing any harm on anyone to sincerely hoping for a really nasty fatal accident for both of them.

it got even better. "When asked whether he thought he’d crossed the line with his remarks, Tomic diverted responsibility. “I’d like to see what the microphone picked up what he said,” he said. “But that might not be possible.”

in other words, i will only admit to crossing the line if you can prove i did. i am almost choking on the remorse. krygios could play paul gallen in a dallas cowboy jersey next and i'd be cheering 'go paul!"

the old man used to be involved with tennis admin (i remember being for one screaming row with pat cash's father when he told him how appalling he was - these days, he be an angel). there is nothing i would not pay to see him discuss these idiots with today's spineless toadies. shame, tennis australia, shame.

Not to defend him, but the US Open crowd is known to be a bit rowdy, and is a lot less polite than the crowd at a typical tour stop.  It is Queens, after all.  Compared to what these guys are used to, I can see where that may put off some of the players.  Of course the worst thing a player can do is engage or even acknowledge heckling.  It's all downhill from there.  You definitely don't want to turn that crowd against you.  I could absolutely see where someone in his position might call for enforcing etiquette.  He might be better off sitting out the next US Open or two.

I'd like to see what the mic picked up... That's hilarious

the way he is playing, i think he'll be sitting out quite a few tournaments after round 1.

this is a guy who grew up in qld and played before some fairly aggro crowds. he rarely has the crowd on his side (big surprise) so should be used to it. he is just an immature little grub. but seriously, to call for etiquette just after telling someone in the crowd to suck my balls? he is not a very bright human.

Ken,

I can understand where you're coming from. If a US tennis player was acting like that overseas I'd be a bit embarrassed. I'm still stupefied by Ryan Lochte's actions in Brazil...moron.

But, since this is an Aussie, I have to admit that I had a pretty good laugh the first time I saw the video. :rotfl:

I'm sure the heckler was annoying.

So we have time to rant endlessly about a couple of imbeciles that's been ranted about before, but can't find a moment to share anything further about best bar ever?!?

Mate I seriously thought of you Ken when I seen the news on Tomic and Kyrgios - I could have bet money you were going to post something. ;)

But.. I agree with you 100%.

When will Tennis Australia reprimand them? Seriously embarrassing and regardless if U.S fans are rowdy or not, these guys are sportsmen and women, they should do better and or have people during matches that identify those sledging and remove them much like AFL games. No excuse for such attitude and language from and sportspeople.

Give them a break, mate!  The Powers That Be in Aussie Sports are still too busy castigating and punishing Australian Olympic athletes!

I read somewhere recently that it was hypothesised that Kyrgios was encouraged by officials to continue acting as he does in matches as it brings notoriety/free publicity to the game of tennis. Ok...it's someone's theory, perhaps even their rationalisation of the Kyrgios/Tomic phenomenon. Personally, I can't relate to these selfish, whinging excuses for apparent role models for Australian tennis. Thus, I patiently wait for the next Rod Laver/Ken Rosewall/Pat Rafter to headline Australian tennis, albeit, it could be awhile.

Yeah, you Aussies have some way to go to find a person like Lleyton Hewitt again.
I had the good fortune to live in Melbourne when he was a a rising star, good times!

Same time as i discovered the ultimate "watch on the telly while hung over sport", Bowls!

Perhaps next time, with proper etiquette, he will say "Pardon me, would you be so kind as to suck my balls?"

I wonder how different the Australian backlash would be if either of these guys was actually playing up to his potential.  Let's face it, regardless of their lofty world rankings, they're both third tier players right now.  Whenever one of them takes the next step and makes it past the quarterfinals at a slam, it will be interesting to see how the narrative changes.  Descriptors like immature and weak-minded are replaced with fiery and passionate.  Tennis has a long history of unsavory characters, but just like any other sport, all that counts in the end is winning.  Maybe not everyone in this thread would be quick to jump in line, but the overwhelming public opinion certainly would change.

i saw mention of hewitt - a saint compared to these idiots but he had his moments. wabashcr has an excellent point - winning does tend to let sports people get away with more than they might otherwise. the hope solo story i think he told a prime example. but hewitt not only won, he was fiercely competitive and never gave up. the way he played made you proud. how many times was he down only to come back in five sets? i doubt many have records to compare on that score. occasional antics were not helpful but nothing like these grubs. how often have these idiots tanked? so un-australian.

i really hope we never find out the response if they win. as i said, they could play against gallen in a cowboys jersey and i'm 'go paul'. they could take on trump and clinton in doubles and i'd still want them to lose.

these two are Tennis Australia's Monte Opens. SHAME.

and surprise surprise. scumbag krygios "withdraws" with injury. was going great guns, started to lose and suddenly it is loser's limp and off we go. an utter embarrassment. think of the aussies who have played through pain - if indeed he had any pain. i'd want an independent doc's certifcate. the dennis lillee's, the john sattler's. and so on. of course, the fact that his next match was against stan warwinka, whom he treated so appallingly, would have had nothing to do with him withdrawing.

i wish he'd withdraw from sight forever.

weak...ohme oooooome ........he and Tomic are the same...... ohme me back ...ohme me knee ...I have a virus . Weak I say ...if they are not serving shit sandwiches ...they expect us to eat their shit and call it caviar .  Embarrassing , I honestly don't mind them shooting their mouths off...fact is they just cant back anything up .

biggest pair off horses hoofs going around if you ask me.

You guys can't be serious!!

McEnroe was pretty similar in his day. Short fuse. Hair trigger kind of player. His temper got him disqualified from a few tournaments too. Check him out on YouTube if you've forgotten. He used to get booed all the time (often at the Australian Open when he carried on). Suppose his redeeming quality was his sheer competitiveness. Look at him now. Well regarded. Popular commentator. Age mellowed him nicely.

Tomic and Kyrgios are downhill skiers. Their reputations are here to stay and I can't see either of them fulfilling their vast potential, ever. I don't think it's an (im)maturity problem. Poor fellas are handy with a racquet but are dumb as dumb can be. The Australian public will never warm to either of them now, irrespective of their future successes.

I'm ok with that. A true villain in sport, one you really love to hate, makes things interesting.

Gets me thinking. Who are the other dead-set mongrels in world sport? The kind you'd cross the street to push in front of a bus. Douglas Jardine in cricket...

mcenroe was, and connors before him. but nothing like these idiots. mcenroe happily later admitted, his was mostly aimed at himself. which it was. and occasionally (and far less forgiveably) at umpires. the banning in the aussie open was, he has admitted, a miscalculation. he was firing himself up (which was largely the aim) but miscounted the warnings. thought he had one more. whoops.

but please, as much as those guys were seen as bad boys of their time (pat cash another), they were saints compared to this mob. telling your opponent, for all the word to hear, that your mate banged his girlfriend, telling the crowd to suck my balls, deliberately tranking in matches, giving up if your hair is out of place. and on and on and on. different league. let it continue and they only get worse.
