garbandz Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 Go on Ken, tell them about the "Menage A Foie"
PatrickEwing Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 I'm supposed to be getting married tomorrow. Already told the priest I ain't saying I do until I hear this god forsaken story.
JohnS Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Ken, this bar does sound like the Alcoholic version of 'Fight Club'. (NO doubt) We're all intrigued. You know I'll be itching to ask about this 'Helsinki Adventure' next time I'm in Brisbane!
Ken Gargett Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 guys, give me a break. i will get to it. i'm here to work. just woken up from last night's tasting and now have to rush off as over the next two days, we have something like 150 wines, 15 magnums. around 90 of them between 1900 and 1978 while the rest are the top champers from the 90s. it is hard work. i will report on the BBE.

Nrengle Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Helsinki eh? Love that city, go to Zetor for dinner one night. It's great. Also Cafe Esplanade for coffee and pastries. And if time and weather permits head over to Suomolinna and check out the old fortress. Beautiful island. As for best bar ever I have an idea. Theres also a incredibly tacky yet fun bar there with a picture of a giant rock on the wall if ya like. Oh and try a sauna while there!
CaptainQuintero Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Don't hurry Ken, just get back to us when the blisters have healed
Fugu Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 Titty Twisters, Ken, really? Dunno, got some very strange pictures in my head right now....
PigFish Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 ... if you don't get to it Ken, I am going to post gun pictures on this thread!!! You have been warned! -Piggy

Dear Lord. Do they issue you with cards on lanyards, Paddington Bear-style, with your name and hotel name printed on them, saying "Please look after this wine expert"? 2
Ken Gargett Posted August 27, 2016 Author Posted August 27, 2016 fellas, be fair. not an easy day. about 70 wines. lot of debate over whether dom 1964 tops charles heidsieck 1955, was charmes chambertin better in 28, 49 or 50, ditto richebourg from 49, 50, 53 and 59. was the faiveley musigny 59 a match for the de vogue bonnes mares 53 (no), 29 mouton or 21 or 29 montrose, 53 pichon lalande or 47 or 59 margaux; 49 cheval or 52 petrus. and so on. then we topped it off with a couple of vintage ports from 1900. no rest. back to the grindstone tomorrow. 2
