Nice. Thanks for illustrating. Quite a difference in the 3 TOS sticks. The wrapper on the one in the middle is quite light compared to the other 2.

Now smoke em blindfolded and see if you can tell the diff

since I started the dive with CC a short while back (18 months) the Dip #2 has been my favorite torpedo; I came across a box EML Jul 14; they are fantastic.  I can't keep them because they are so good.

Love the cigar, love the post. Very cool to see them like that. They all look so good. Haven't had a monte 2 I like over the dip 2 in some time maybe since 2010

I concur that they are very, very good, I very much enjoy them. I lament the fact that there's no Dip No.4 anymore, at the very least.

On a positive note, I had a Dip No.5 and SCdLH El Principe back-to-back this week and the scrumptious cocoa notes from both was heavenly!

Always Amazing the discrepancy in wrapper quality used in all CC's and as illustrated here. Also shows how good we have it and how stellar Rob is at what he does for his customers. Nobody else sorts and tags their inventory like he and his staff does. It's all about the source!!!
I too love all things Diplo, 2's are pretty solid the last couple yrs. like John detailed the discontinued ones are real gems, hope we see some of them come back eventually.

Is it just me? Can't spot any difference apart from wrapper shade.

Oil is one big difference, but I'm assuming this will change during the aging process.  One of the biggest differences which can't be noticed here obviously is the smell.  The PSP box has a smell which stays around.  Much stronger than the box of PE.

A majority of smokers taste with their eyes... hence the price grading based on visual appearance

Ok, I get that. But oiliness or wrapper shade have never been a direct quality-criterion for me.

And those cigars above are all sporting nice, seamless, smooth wrappers, with the far left one even coming with what appears to be the smoothest and least veiny wrapper (but there is some stray light in the optics which may lead to that impression).

Yeah the optics are not good.  iPhone camera.  I agree with you on what you're saying and I think the picture illustrates it pretty well because there's a lighter shade (HQ) wrapper tossed in the mix.  In my somewhat limited experience I don't believe I've ever seen an extremely dark wrapper on Dip2s up until the TOS Nov15 popped up.  I am still convinced the wrappers on these are from the same tobacco as the Bushidos rolled around that time.  They are very similar when you put them side by side.  Likely the binder and filler are different, but the wrappers are almost identical.  Smoking them will be the ultimate test.  I'll let you know how that goes in a few months.

This post is quite an eye opener on the different shades and, seemingly, quality of wrapper leaf available.  I watched a You Tube video on Cuban wrapper leave being sorted and at any given time, the sorter must of had 10 different shades stacked in front of her/him.  Great pic to see all lined up side by side.  Note to self:  get some Diplo No. 2!

Have not had a D-2 in years. Maybe time to dig one out...

I have generally found that the Diplomatico line superior to the Montecristo line. Thanks for sharing Zaney!
