I was at "Mercado de 70" (70th and 3rd Ave) by the Russian Embassy this weekend in Havana. For those of you not familiar with it, it is a medium sized supermarket with some other little shops associated with it and some small outside restaurants. In the complex all the kiosks were selling Miller Lite beer at $1.15 a can or $13.40/12 pack. The supermarket had it as well. So is the Embargo over and them boys at the Miller brewing company forgot to tell us? The cans said Milwaukee, WI, so I don't think they could tell us it was made in Mexico or some other place. "Maybe" it was a donation for a local church and since the padres don't like lite beer they sent it to the market for sale. Or could be they were just "Samples" that were "given" and them Miller boys never actually "sold" them anything. So the embargo is over.... right?

The embargo will be truly over when you have Habanos cigars on display for purchase in American tobacconist stores. We may have to keep waiting for this to occur, but Miller beer in Cuba is a good sign.

In response to the OP, is it possible that the beer was purchased from a Mexican distributor? I'm not aware of the rules and laws and other trade issues arising from that, but it's at least a possibility!

Miller is the drink of the gods! It's Bud Lite that's weed killer.

From a British point of view, I have to admit that it's only fair. We colonised you for a century and you fought for us in two world wars. Now you send us Fosters, which makes us even. :D

Miller is by far the best tasting mass produced swill in the US, but I very rarely drink any beer from the mega-brewers.  Give me a good craft brew (or 6) any day of the week.

For the love of God.....not Miller Lite  :mob:

tastes great?  not really.  less filling?  perhaps.  I've definitely had worse.  However, I much prefer a nice IPA on cask.

Miller is owned by the same parent company as Foster's: SABMiller. I guess they decided to grace Cuba with some Rocky Mountain Pisswater

Would be really interesting if you could get Yuengling down there since we cannot even get it in Illinois yet.

Some of the best lager out there, and IMHO the very best mass-produced lager. Living in Pennsylvania I am swimming in it

I'm afraid we shall have to agree to STRONGLY (but civilly over a spiritual beer) disagree.

That said, Stone IPA is incredible and I salute your almost impeccable taste in brew!

I may be incorrect, but my understanding has been that the US has permitted the sale of some food / agricultural products to Cuba for many many years.

The challenge was that all sales needed to paid in advance and properly documented with export permits.

The influx of US tourists may have had the Cuba Gov decide to look at some other items they could enhance the US experience.

disclaimer I don't drink that stuff.

(Reuters) - Brewer Anheuser-Busch InBev has sweetened the terms of its $100 billion-plus takeover offer for SABMiller after a fall in sterling since Britain's vote to leave the European Union and a rise in AB InBev's shares reduced the attractiveness of the original terms for SABMiller shareholders.

AB InBev will now offer 45 pounds a share, an increase from the 44 pounds announced in November last year.

The offer values SABMiller at around 79 billion pounds ($104 billion). In November, it was worth around 70 billion pounds, or $106 billion by the exchange rates at the time.

AB InBev also tweaked the terms of a share-and-cash structure targeted at SABMiller's two biggest shareholders, increasing the cash element to 4.66 pounds from 3.78 pounds in November.

AB InBev said its revised terms were final.

The changes come after a number of activist investors bought stakes in SABMiller.

"I wouldn't like to second guess what the activists were hoping for, but the increase is quite modest," one SABMiller shareholder told Reuters.
