I'm pretty sure this has been covered before, but how do I immediately access a topic's last page, when on a browser? Nowadays I have to first access the first page, and only select the last one within the topic.

This may be more of a user error issue than a glitch, but I normally access the site via the Unread Content section to read the latest posts. However, when I click on that content it takes me to the first post in the thread and then I have to page through to the actual new content. Is there a way to click in that section and go directly to the latest post?

Click on the red dot or star (star means you posted in this thread) to the left of the thread title. It will take you to the first unread post.

I havent faced the above problem. Not even once.   What I'd like to see is when visiting a thread you go straight to the first non-read yet post.

You can no longer see the people viewing each post.  On the 24/24 for example, sometimes I would give someone a heads-up -- or not bother, if I see they're already there.  No longer can do that

More of a frustration. *LOVE* the awesome background art but it get's frustrating to have to scroll up a 1/2 to a full page every time I change topics or forums.

I stand very much corrected. Fugu, I'd like to give you a hug. That saved my index finger a lot of scrolling.

Complaint rescinded.

Dunnow how I could live without that function... :D

Dont worry, besides me and 1 or 2 guys everybody else is nice here.

Sorry, again, Fugu.

Now serious: not intuitive at all clicking beside a thread.

Find it very intuitive, and even when moving over it with your cursor, quick info shows you which action is underlying the function. Never had a problem with in, neither in the old nor in the new forum:

first unread.jpg

I know, Jason got a lot of complaints in this regard. Perhaps an issue with some browsers supporting or not supporting the function. But basically - it's there.

As mentioned above, either go to (your) first unread post:

first unread.jpg

or go to last page:

last page.jpg

I'd support that! Also, has always been nice directly seeing who is currently actively partaking in a thread.

Further, it would also be nice to have the post-numbering back, for referencing purposes.

That was a feature on the old forum.

Somehow it wasnt necessary to me. Just clicking on the thread and straight to the first non read post.

90% times I access FoH I am using my cell phone. No mouse.

Like I said above, in the old forum I just clicked/tapped on the thread and straight to 1st non read post.

Good it's still here.

Thanks

Same here. I would bet a majority accesses through mobile. Was clunky to figure out. Now just annoying because it's such a tiny dot and quite easy to miss the red circle when tapping and ne sent backto the beginning of the thread.

Swiping back/forward on mobile os glitchy. It will zap me to the very bottom of the page with the 24:24 advertisement and OZ clock. Or it won't go back to the previous page.

Ahh, I see what you mean - Yes, good point, Oliver. Perhaps the functionality could be combined (if supported by the architecture) - i.e. when clicking on the thread's title being automatically directed to the first unread post as a default. Because that is what most of us will want to do. Would make for a much better handling on mobiles. The functionality of the red dots and stars could still be retained and will serve as indicators whether there is new content posted. Guess that's a question for Jason @refresh when he is back.

Good stuff fellas. Much of what you are bringing up is being addressed an some of the others are beig looked at for a work around.

Like all new platforms, the developers (Invision Board) are rolling out patches here and there but much of the work arounds are coding that needs to be overseen by Jason.

keep them coming :cigar:

My name changed from RoRo to earthson. I know where the name came from, but RoRo is what my jazz drummer friend has called me forever.

I've been waiting until the forum is fully integrated until I issue a request to have my name changed back.

Thank you for the tip, gents, much appreciated! I really needed this.

It's a bit of an odd puzzle to fix. The red dot functions the same as the green dot on the old site, so it hasn't changed. We've added an "Unread" link (which I personally think is over-bearing)

Yes, agreed, and well done removing the extra button again!

and there is a plugin that'll jump the title straight to the last Unread Post. But that'll then be annoying for a new reader to that thread because it no longer points to the OP, so they have to scroll back pages to find what they're looking for. Damned if we do, damned if we don't...

Have thought the same initially, but that isn't the case actually:

If you are always lead to your first unread post, a new reader to a topic will likewise be directed to the very first post (the OP) of a thread, because this will equally be his personal first unread post. So, I actually see no issue here. Just underlaying the topic titles with the "red dot"- functionality (instead of the current "go to first page"), should remedy the difficulties for the mobile users. And the small page selector will additionally allow it to still access first (through fourth) or last page directly from the topic-listing page.

I can see that this would bring an improvement of comfort for touch-screen devices, as I guess in 99% of all cases users want to go their first unread post.

Appreciate the tightening up of things, possible to move the Subforms to the bottom so good ole 24:24 (or 24:72) is also ways on top? Subforms are a low-traffic section and the general watering hole is high-traffic. Thx!

I dis like the "unread content" feature. I miss the old "new content" feature where new posts were listed by topic and the topics don't disappear from the list after I peruse the thread.  How about a list of topics with new posts? I think that's the best way for me to keep tabs on what's happening in the forum.

Me too. Messes me up everytime. Also, concerning the last post debate. I would like to point out that not only do you have just the red dot feature but if you go to the right under the users name and click on the time the last thread was posted it will take you there also. Comes in handy when you wish to re-read a post you have already read.

On the right hand side, change Results As from "Expanded" to "Condensed".

Could you be a little more specific, please. Are you refering to Leftimaticspost or mine? Thanks

Both. You wanted to see a list of topics with new posts, so change it to condensed view to see only the topics, instead of last post in a topic.Leftimatic had the same concern.

I've removed the Unread badge and replaced it with a plugin that links the Topic title to the first unread post. It might take a little bit of activity before it kicks in. Please let me know if it's misbehaving.

Works like a charm!  :2thumbs:

Just one notice. It might be intentional and not be a glitch, but just for info - once you've read all contents in a thread, again clicking on the topic-title will then direct you to the very first post in a thread, instead of to the last. You'll then have to hit last page instead (actually not a big issue, but perhaps again uncomfy for mobiles)

when viewing the forums via activity, it seems that we can see things posted from members to another member's profile section. No biggie, but feels like that stuff should be a bit less out in the open.
