Popular Post LordAnubis Posted July 5, 2016 Popular Post Posted July 5, 2016 Hi everyone! Today marks the end of the month of ramadhan for me, my family and many Muslims around the world. Eid Mubarak to one and all! As is usually my tradition in spreading some knowledge of Islam, today I will tell you about Zakaat There are many reasons people say fasting in the holy month of ramadhan is one of the 5 pillars of Islam. Some say it was formed from a period in history of drought and hence little food, some say it is because the Quran was first revealed in this month and others even say that not eating means you have less blood in your body and hence less of the devil to course through your veins! The one I believe is that it's a means of understanding what it's like for those less fortunate, before we have to give zakaat. Zakaat is another of the 5 pillars of Islam and it is a donation to charity. It is obligatory for all Muslims to pay zakaat every year before prayer of Eid Ul-Fitr (prayer today) if they have sufficient wealth to do so. Zakaat is essentially donating 2.5% of your wealth to charity. There are plenty of rules. Essentially you pay zakaat on gold (both jewellery and plain gold), silver (both jewellery and plain silver), cash on hand, crops owned, animals owned and investment income earned. There are minimum thresholds that do not incur payment of zakat. Above this prescribed minimum though, one has to pay zakaat on the volume of that item they are holding. And no there's no tax dodges on this one. Then there's a question of who to give the zakaat to? Well there's rules in that too! You can give zakaat to the poor, needy, a charitable organisation, reverts, slaves for their freedom, those in debt, cause of Allah (mosques and schools etc) and travellers without means (essentially refugees etc). Have a good day and week to everyone celebrating Eid and if you're not, have a wonderful time all the same Me I'm looking forward to a few good smoke sessions with the Perth boys over the weekend. Gonna be awesome as always 14

MIKA27 Posted July 5, 2016 Posted July 5, 2016 Eid mubarak, Mus! Very nice for you to share some insight, I love cultures no matter where from, very rare one hears anything from the Muslim faith and perhaps it's just that you have done so. This is the issue with current trends, people judge without understanding. Have a great day mate. Is that guy overly tall or are you overly short...?
