When I read about this rule change in April, it was contingent upon individuals in Cuba being permitted to grow, negotiate and export their product without selling to the Cuban government prior to its exportation off island. If Nespresso has managed to pull this off, good for them.

Funny how the first offerings will in a "limited edition" form lol...I guess I take for granted the tub I have in the fridge...

Nespresso released the limited edition "Cubania" back in 2014, though it didn't contain a shred of Cuban coffee in it.

Correct. But it was good.   :) I'm down to may last 3 sleeves.   I wrote Nespresso asking about the lack of Cuban bean. It wasn't for lack of trying they said.  In their negotiations, Cuban farmers couldn't provide the minimum amount of raw material they needed to make it viable.  Simple economics not politics was the barrier.  I'm glad to see they kept at it and that true Cuban coffee will be used in their product.

I look forward to when Nespresso releases their new Cuban coffee capsule. They finally opened a boutique store a few km from me. No longer have to order and get it sent or drive into the city.

I live out west, 40+km from the CBD. With Sydney's traffic, it would be faster to get to Vladivostok than driving into the city.

I used to get into these group buys for raw beans from Cuba as I used to to a little coffee roasting as a hobby. Many of you newer to cigars will find that many smokers are roasters... I digress.

Anyway, while I find Cuban cigars second to none, I don't feel the same about their coffee. Their coffee is just not acidic enough for my taste. It is nothing to write home about. I see Cuba as a place for quality smoking cigars, and just because it is Cuban (origin) cigars or otherwise, does not make it good!!!

Tobacco from Cuba is clearly a superior product for my tastes (given a good crop, fermentation, blending). Coffee and rum are not. This is based on my sampling of roasted beans from the island, and roasting of green beans myself. However, the "limited" edition coffees with double bags and numbering are a different story :D

As one who has access to the family reserve beans from the cooperativo in Jarabacoa, Dominican Republic, I can state that Cuban coffee is no big deal.

Their hills just ain't high enough?
