Dara Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 Unfortunately Vinny Culhane a very popular member of Irish & UK cigar groups and a FOH member (although I can't remember his username) passed away suddenly at 38 years of age today the 15th June. Vinny was an amazing guy and summed up all that is good about Brothers of the Leaf with his generosity in sharing his knowledge and his cigars (in fact we became such good friends through the leaf that he was as much like a brother to me as my own siblings). Vinny was an amazing guy who was a rising star in the London Irish rugby team in the UK (playing league in the off season and winning a few trophies at that too) when he suffered a spinal accident and was told he would never walk again.....so he took up wheelchair rugby, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rowing (all of which he completed at national level for both Ireland and the UK). He confounded the doctors by walking again within 2 years and all he had to show for it 14 years later was a slight limp sometimes. He was a gentle giant and a great friend to all who knew him (he was also a fanatical bbq chef so this combined with his intense sporting competitiveness could have almost got him an Australian passport ) sadly even though it all seems like a bad dream he is now gone but will never be forgotten, so please think of his family as you enjoy your next stick! see you on the other side Vinny!! 1

Hypersomniac Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I knew Vinny through the CA forum. Talked to him when I just was getting into cigars. He was a great guy. Sad to see him go. I still have a cigar he gave me in my humidor, I will have to light it up tonight in his memory. 1

dangolf18 Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 This is upsetting news. Vinny was such a great guy. He reached out to me while I was doing one of the weight loss competitions on this site a few years ago. Spent a couple hours talking with him and he was a very nice and helpful guy. Very kindhearted. Rest in peace brother. You will be sorely missed.
