Surprise Birthday Gift

John I was never a teacher. If there is a harder job done well, let me know.

I always remember when I was drafted in as a rugby coach from a successful loclal club to a top private school. To be honest, I was taken aback by the attitude. it was less than full throtle and I had to temper my approach somewhat.

It was then that a teacher who has become a good friend of mine said " Rob, you are not here to develop great rugby players, just great men"

Never forgt it.

You do it every day in the classroom, girls and boys. Congrats! :ok:

Happy Birthday John!

You are a great teacher mate

Yes, we've had a few laughs about some classroom antics, haven't we?

So true, Rob. It's one thing to impart your knowledge, it's another to lead by example. Making connections and being inspirational, if you respect where the kids are at (at their stage of life), it certainly helps. I've enjoyed the chats we've had about even practical things such as getting sport programs into schools for youngsters, from Professional organisations such as Cricket Australia, the NRL, the AFL and the NSW Rugby Union. I know that some of the kids (at my school) are itching to spend a day at the annual Rugby League Gala day run by the St George Dragons at the end of this month, for instance.

Happy Birthday Mate. :buddies:

Thanks Trevor, I'd like to reassure that this Espléndidos was very, very good, yet still not in the league of some (of the cigars) we've enjoyed. I look forward to having a laugh about it the next time we catch-up.
