HoyoFan Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Hey guys, given that it's summer in North America and they will be traveling a long way, do you guys freeze your sticks when before you drop them in your humidor? They will be going into a wineidor if that helps so the temp will be controlled
stogieluver Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope, and have never had a problem. Keep your rH between 60-65% (closer to 60% is best) and temp no higher than 70-72, lower if possible. You won't have a problem.
Popular Post ThePolskiOgorki Posted June 9, 2016 Popular Post Posted June 9, 2016 I freeze everything no matter what the source. 5
skalls Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope. Keep them in a cooler in my basement. Stays 65 degrees year round and 64-66% RH. 2
backslide Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope, haven't in years and years. Only exception is custom rolls. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

gcman68 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I freeze everything mostly because my cabinet in my unfinished basement can get a little warm. In the hottest part of the summer it gets to 72-73 degrees so I just sleep better but I never had a problem and know plenty of people that haven't had any problems as well. 1
Mahstah Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope I don't bother, never had an issue. /knocks on fake wood.
Yagermeister Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope, I've never frozen any of my cigars. The only beetles I've seen were in a glass top box of fake Cubans that a well-meaning friend brought back from Mexico.

MahDooRow Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Nope. No issues, no worries about issues. I keep my boxes @ 65F/65rH and periodically check them to make sure all is well.
Eric E Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I do not, but I should. I had a beetle outbreak years ago from a box of Partagas ELs (not from our host). It was two cigars, and I found one of the little bastards in the bottom of the box. Froze everything in the humi and have not had any issues since. I buy buy and stash, meaning I won't touch a cigar for six months after it goes in the humidor (nothing scientific, but in my mind it should be acclimated by then). I check these new boxes frequently at first, then once a month for the nasty bastards. So far, so good. The only other beetle I have come across was from one of the "books". A good friend sent me a cigar from one and a beetle had breeched the wrapper on its way to me. I froze it and smoked it. ?

TheFullMontecristo Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and It costs nothing. 2
vintagerodshop Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I also freeze everything no mater what. Then into the coolers they go. I try to let anything sit for a year regardless of box date. 2
Nicko Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I always freeze. A habit. I think better safe than sorry. Usually take a months supply at a time out of the coolers into my desktops. No temp control so I think of the damage that could be done to 40-50 boxes in a month or so if left unchecked. 2
