Popular Post cigcars Posted June 4, 2016 Popular Post Posted June 4, 2016 *The funeral will be held here in Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday. Arrangements still being made. Our mayor will order the state and government hall flags to be flown at half staff. ***I was three years old and sat in his lap on the night he was leaving Louisville to head to world fame. He was still Cassius Clay at the time - and he was dating my aunt at the time! He gave me an ice cream cone. His mom still lived for quite awhile down the road from us in the West End.*** (Just a little historical reference here!) All hearts are also lowered at half staff throughout the world...RIP, Great One 7

joeruby Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 He certainly defined his era. Great boxer as well as Great showman The Greatest.. RIP
Overproof Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 GOAT! Rest in paradise champ! "The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym and out there on the road..Long before I dance under those lights."

I always loved Norman Mailer's descriptions of that fight! great flick. i remember it was just about to start when 9/11 hit. but the film, wonderful stuff. bought it for my nephews a while back. i doubt they ever bothered (gave one of them, 'the good/bad and ugly'. didn't look at all impressed but did say he thought he'd heard of it). but one digresses. i heard foreman interviewed many years later - the fight almost destroyed his life and he spent several years severely depressed, but fortunately got over it. apparently ali, as foreman pounded him, kept saying, 'c'mon george, is that all you've got'. so foreman would lay into him. and ali would say, 'is that all you've got?'. finally around the 7th round, and ali is still saying, 'c'mon george, is that all you've got?', foreman said he realised that yes, that was, in fact, all he had. and it was all over. the frazier bouts might have been the great fights but that was so extraordinarily clever.
Mr.T Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 RIP...was going through some of his most memorable quotes and boy are there some great ones like "if you ever dream of beating me you better wake up and apologize"...classic Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
joeboxer Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 One of the most iconic athletes of all time. While a few fighters like Tyson and Mayweather have spent a few years in the spotlight, Ali has remained the face of boxing for 50 years. May he RIP.

A'hm so mean I make medicine sick! I can drown a drink of water, I can kill a dead tree; float like a butterfly sting like a bee! C'mon lions, tigers, bears, gorillas! Ah'll whoop a hundred Godzillas! Your hands cain't hit what your eyes cain't see! Doooon't MESS with Muhammad Ali !!!" 2
billh1 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 He wasn't bragging when he said he was the greatest! RIP Champ.
