El Presidente Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Enjoy! ....no...I haven't heard of the "International Cigar Association" "members of the International Cigar Association recently gathered to conduct a private cigar tasting. Dozens of the world's finest cigars were smoked and each cigar aficionado rated his or her favorites. Below is the combined result of that event; the list of the 10 highest rated cigars in the world, each of these, a must-have for the serious collector. ayepatz Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Marvellous. I take it you'll be doing a sampler, Rob?
Orion21 Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 This is who wrote the article about how to smoke a cigar: http://www.internationalcigarassociation.com/reviews https://twitter.com/reddywriting I think we have a case of a person with a fax machine and an official looking logo holding themselves out to be a large organization. Either way the website is a joke and so are those rankings! LOL

NSXCIGAR Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Looks like an ad you'd find in CA. Funny how the most overrated and overpriced brand in general gets the top spot... Here's a conflicting and slightly amusing review of the Gurkha Cellar Reserve 15 Year (which by the way sounds like a whiskey): http://www.bourbonandbroadleaf.com/gurkha-cellar-reserve-15-years-aged/ Interestingly, these Gurkhas are fairly reasonable in price $10-20 each depending on size. Maybe the $5,000 per stick strategy is faltering... Love how they toss the HdM DC in mid-way as a token CC, and of course it's one of the most well-known models. I guess no other CC scored higher than a 92 on their scale. These NC guys just kill me.
ShortFatHokie Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Sorry, but any organization that not only rates Gurkha anything as #1, but has Gurkha anything rated twice in its Top 10, loses all credibility with me... 2
Mattygukas Posted June 2, 2016 Posted June 2, 2016 Ummm, some of those are nice sticks but come on. There are at least 15 sticks that blow them away and those are just from Cuba. (Let alone high quality Nicas) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fuzz Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I'd like to see many more of these kind of articles popping up. The more people who believe this tripe, and seek out those overhyped cigars, the more CCs are available for us! 4

JohnS Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 So good of them to provide an online link to purchase these cigars 'exclusively'! 1
jwr0201 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 At least half of those listed are abjectly forgettable. The Gurkhas are dog rockets!
David88 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 With a name like the 'International Cigar Association' this seems like a totally trustworthy list and they are very kind to provide exclusive links to buy these top cigars which I am sure do not provide them with any income whatsoever...

You're probably right--I wasn't aware there was a NC Hoyo with the Double Corona name. It's fairly unusual for CC and NCs to share model names or vitola sizes so I assumed it was the CC. However, the NC Hoyo DC is not a Prominentes vitola. I gave these guys too much credit for even including a CC in the list. Keep smoking those Gurkhas, guys--more CCs for us.
CoffeeGeek Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I have so many questions. Who are the esteemed, world famous tasting panel they chose to judge these cigars? Where was this top-ranked, scientifically organized cigar evaluation taking place? How many cigars were entered? Was this a multi-day event? Staged to overcome sensory fatigue? How was the judging done? How many sticks of each entry were evaluated?

Blazer Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 This looks like a small cigar store in FL taking a page out of Famous Smoke Shop's marketing playbook. Create an "INDEPENDENT" 3rd party site to serve up your marketing for you. Seems like every week CA has a new best cigar list and coincidentally FSS carries every one of them. I'm sure it works with the uneducated, but people with any cigar knowledge just shake out collective heads.
wabashcr Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 The Gurkhas are good for a laugh, but I really love how they tried to sneak in that Nicaraguan "Montecristo" there at the end. *That's* how you troll cigar enthusiasts. I'm glad to see for the most part we've moved past the usual indignation and outrage at these lists, and can enjoy them for the unintended comedy factor they provide.
Fuzz Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Those Gurkhas were probably rolled with fresh leaf and languished on their shelves for 15 years. Good way to get rid of dead stock.
stogieluver Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 For entertainment purposes only. Much like shows on Nickelodeon.
Akela3rd Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 I like the way the Padron is available as a Maduro too, but apparently is exactly the same cigar. Particle duality - that's quantum physics, dude... Sent from my HTC One M8s using Tapatalk
LeafLover Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 Gurkha must have deep pockets. Where do they sell most of their cigars? U.S.? Europe? Asia? Does anyone here know anyone who go deep on Gurkha? Can anyone help me understand? Cuz I've had a couple when I first started cigars and didn't know any better. And....no.
TheMonk Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 So their best (and only) Cuban is the HdM DC... Sounds like a very thorough and in depth cigar tasting.
Miller1985 Posted June 3, 2016 Posted June 3, 2016 There's several cigars on that list that are delicious, but the Gurkha's aren't those. I know the general populace here doesn't enjoy NC cigars, but there are a few gems that don't come from Cuba.
tomlingame Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Any survey from the US or anywhere else that does not include Cuban cigars is a complete waste of time! 1
