Everybody is just trying to help the guy out and Piggy has to write a thesis. :rotfl:  I kid, I kid. Analytical breakdown of any problem or situation is the best way to solve it.

OP, notice two things from all of that though. 1. Quality tools (Milwakee, Makita) 2. The right tools for the right jobs.

I agree that the drill/driver and impact are the most important two cordless items. Bigger batteries aren't always better, but multiple batteries are. I still have a corded circular saw, a couple heavy duty corded drills

If you can be patient wait for a real sale. Everybody is looking to buy a cordless tool set to complete last winters Honeydew list. Its like buying a snowblower for "Sale" in October. Wait till February and it will be 50% less than the "sale" price.

Plagiarist! We need a footnote tool.... -LOL

Ultimately you have to ask yourself what you are going to do with the tools in order to answer the question.   A poster above made a comment about corded tools. He is right on the money. You

I am not allowed to use power tools.

At least do us the favor of writing your dissertations in MLA format. :)

I have good experience with anything Milwaukee, but all my cordless tools are Dewalt. Very happy with them too for the price I paid. Good combo options as well.

Bosch.  Ryobi is crap.  Weak compared to all but B&D, batteries do NOT last and are costly to replace.  That's why the sets are so cheap.  You're stuck and have to get their batteries.  My Bosch set is 3.5 years old anf the batteries still hold full charges.  Used very often and have dangerously good amount of torque.  I would buy the same again. Good hunting!

Go cheap : black and decker or ryobi and spend the savings on cigars. If you aren't going to use them professionally then you probably won't break them or notice a difference.

I have DeWalt and I love the tools, but the XRP batteries have been short lived, and they are not cheap. A pair of XRP 18V batteries are $100. I hardly ever use them, but for some reason after about 2 years they just won't hold a charge.
