mcease022 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 This might have been answered already - I just cant find it. I know Rob posted a thread of favourite Robusto with under 12 month box age, but what is your favourite cigar with minimal age (under a year) any size. I need to have some on hand while my stock ages.
NSXCIGAR Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Montecristo, Bolivar and most RyJ models shouldn't need much, if any, aging to be great. I also find the SCdLH El Principe in particular to be excellent fresh.
JohnS Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 H.Upmann Half Corona, San Cristobal de La Habana El Principe, Montecristo No.4 and No.5 for me.
dangolf18 Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Favorite brand to smoke young is Cohiba and Bolivar. However they are sure better with age.
NicPac Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I enjoy most Bolis and Montes on the younger side. Also Party Shorts and PSD4s 1
busdriver Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 RyJ (except Cazadores), Bolivar Royal Coronas, cohiba Maduro 5 line, VR Unicos 1
jcorona Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I tried a young h upmann half corona and it was very harsh. The h uppman coronas major was good, and hdm coronations tubo.
TheMonk Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 I tried a young h upmann half corona and it was very harsh. The h uppman coronas major was good, and hdm coronations tubo. It's funny, I've also been having this experience with the HUHC as of late. I used to smoke them ROTT, but this last few boxes I've sampled from are quite harsh, almost like they're still sick.
HavanaSunday Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 PSD4, Monte 4, and recent punch punch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
earthson Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 While all seem to need at least a year from boxcode to my taste, I'd say: RyJ Ex #4 Parti Short Recent Punch Punch The real secret is finding brands/vitolas that are easy to find with a couple years on them already.

I agree with this. 12-18 month where I start to dig into boxes. Psd4, monte4, shorts, RA superiores, mag 46, 50... But in the earlier stages... Dunno. Not for me.

schquigly Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Thanks for the post, I was wondering what others smoke on while the age stuff rests.
MnBrian Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 EPI 2 Monti PE I second the Monte PE vote. PSD4's have also been pretty good young. In fact, most of the Partagas vitolas I've had lately have been pretty good young, but some just have so much more potential with age.
RijkdeGooier Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 This is not helping you ATM but try to buy for 4-5 years ahead. To get a headstart source some boxes with a couple of years on them already. 2
Zigatoh Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Problem is you always get so many answers, and it probably depends on your personal taste more than anything. Busdriver for example excluded cazadores from the RyJ range but I love a fresh cazzie! 1
garbandz Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 Cannot help you......... Try as I might, every time I buy a box it is 2014 or older. Well,I think there may be ONE box,but I have not tried it. All of my '14s are very good. 1
JohnS Posted May 18, 2016 Posted May 18, 2016 This is not helping you ATM but try to buy for 4-5 years ahead. To get a headstart source some boxes with a couple of years on them already. So true, I was just thinking this morning of the two reasons why 24:24 sales offerings sell out within minutes... 1) (Almost) Anything that is exclusively PSP 2) (Absolutely) Anything that is from 2011/12/13, even if it is seconds and/or a more uncommon marca. Recent examples include 2011 H.Upmann Connoisseur 1, 2012 San Cristobal de La Habana El Morro and 2013 Sancho Panza Non Plus and Belicosos.
Fugu Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 This is not helping you ATM but try to buy for 4-5 years ahead. To get a headstart source some boxes with a couple of years on them already. "This is not helping you ATM..." No - seriously, that has been the best and most useful answer so far! Smoking at under a year of boxing date always bears the risk of wasting a good cigar. It really is not too difficult to get boxes with some age on them. Go for that or stick with Guantanamera Cristales for the time being (edit: seriously). Happy smokes!
