NSXCIGAR Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 I came across this today from a trusted Swiss vendor who I have not used in many years. I've never seen this before, nor does it appear anywhere I can see on CCW. The vendor has this listed as a "Partagas Puritos" but no such cigar exists AFAIK. The vendor also lists Chicos for sale separately, so I know they aren't confused. The Chicos is the only cigar Partagas makes or has made under the Puritos vitola or name. The band is a Serie band, and actually very cool to see. Is anyone aware of this cigar? Is it new? Old? Special release or only for certain markets? Price listed at 5 Euro/5 cigars.
oliverdst Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Is it a cigar or a cigarrillo? If a cigarrillo CCW does not list it.
Bulldog4 Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 That's a cigarallo Partagas Montecristo ryj and Cohiba all make them
NSXCIGAR Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Is it a cigar or a cigarrillo? If a cigarrillo CCW does not list it. If by cigarillo you mean mini, CCW does list minis. And the vendor lists the dimensions of this Partagas Puritos as 11mm ring x 109mm length--consistent with a Puritos vitola (Chicos, other Puritos [Quintero, RyJ]). Cigarillo (mini) are 82mm long.
Smallclub Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 “Puritos” is a vitola de salidad, not a vitola de galera. Most cuban Puritos are actually of the Chico vitola de galera (Quintero Puritos, Guantanamera Puritos, Montecristo Puritos, RyJ Puritos and the Partagas Chicos). I've never heard of a Partagas Purito and the "D4 style" band is surprising. They must be Dominican Partagas…

They must be Dominican Partagas… I also thought they may not be Cuban, but the vendor is reputable, and do claim they are Cuban in origin. And "Habana" does appear on the band and packaging. They also state: The latest addition to the Cuban Puritos and Chicos formats making me think they are something new. Correction to my original post--vendor is German, not Swiss. Here's an image of the packaging:
Rye Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Those look tasty! Grab a few and report back, and I will keep my eyes open for a few to try
NSXCIGAR Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 http://cubancigarwebsite.com/ict_puritos.aspx There are no Partagas Puritos listed here. I checked that as well as other sources before starting this topic. These are definitely not Partagas Chicos. The Chicos have an entirely different presentation. I know Chicos very well, and these are different.
JoeyW Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 If i remember correctly , the partagas chicos is the name they go for... they come in an orange package of 5 chicos/puritos size
NSXCIGAR Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Again, these are not Chicos. Chicos have been around forever and I've smoked them for 15 years. The size is the same but obviously this is a different model. Band different, packaging different. See above. Yes, Chicos come in the standard Partagas burnt yellow color box/packs. This packaging is Serie-style packaging and says "Puritos." Just very odd that nobody has any info on them. No one has seen them, no other vendor has them, there's absolutely no info anywhere I can find about them.--even CCW has nothing. That is certainly a first.

They also state: The latest addition to the Cuban Puritos and Chicos formats making me think they are something new. it is listet as a new addition on 5th Avenue HP and is legit. Listet on several distributor pages allready. The Serie Club and Mini Cigarillos seem to be a big success and they are expanding to other formats.

The Serie Club and Mini Cigarillos seem to be a big success and they are expanding to other formats. That's what I was looking for! Looks like it's hit 5th Ave's retailers first. Not even on CCW yet. So now HSA duplicates vitolas in the Puritos format as well...certainly much better presentation than the Chicos. Interesting upper band stripe on the 5-pack as well. I'm not sure why they just didn't re-package the Chicos in Serie-style packaging, but why does HSA do anything? As a long-time fan of the Chicos, I hope these are good and catch on. Chicos can be a bit hard to find at a good price.
topdiesel Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 The Partagas Chicos are my favorite of the puritos size, so if they have added an additional version with a black box and possibly different blend I am excited to try. Thanks for sharing.

They are marketed differently. Keep in mind that Germany, Holland, Belgium smoke MILLIONS of cigarillos of all kinds.
NSXCIGAR Posted May 12, 2016 Author Posted May 12, 2016 Because they are "cigarillos", not cigars. They are marketed differently. Keep in mind that Germany, Holland, Belgium smoke MILLIONS of cigarillos of all kinds. I'm not sure I understand the difference. CCW lists the puritos, clubs and minis as all being "cigarillos" under vitola name or factory name. I was under the impression that all three were in fact classified as "cigarillos." Can you give me an example of a Cuban cigarillo that is not a purito, club or mini that isn't listed on CCW (other than the Partagas Puritos)? It seems all cigarillos are listed on CCW and plenty of info can be found on them. I would imagine CCW will be updated to include info about these Partagas Puritos. They must have been released with very little notice and very recently.
topdiesel Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Such a great topic and 180 degrees from the Cohiba 50 that El Pres posted today as well. This one is more my speed. I might even buy 3 boxes.
El Presidente Posted May 12, 2016 Posted May 12, 2016 Unless I am mistaken, they would be made by Internacional Cubana de Tabacos which manufactures all machine made Cuban cigars in Boyeros Havana. They are a different operation to Habanos sa but under the Tabacuba umbrella in a JV with Imperial. They have their own management, marketing structure (separate to HSA).

They are a different operation to Habanos sa but under the Tabacuba umbrella in a JV with Imperial. They have their own management, marketing structure (separate to HSA). You're right about that and I am aware. However all these products are listed on CCW. Some others have stated in this thread that cigarillos are not listed there, or that information may be missing because they are cigarillos and under the management of ICT, but it appears that all Cuban cigarillos have plenty of info, official and otherwise, on them except these Partagas Puritos. It's been suggested here that there are Cuban cigarillos being produced that are not currently listed on CCW as a purito, club or mini and that there exists no information on, and I am of the belief that isn't an accurate statement. I'd like to know what cigarillos anyone is aware of that are not on CCW, as they all look like they're there to me. I just think it's simply an issue of CCW not updating yet and not that cigarillos inherently have little to no information available.
maxcjs0101 Posted May 13, 2016 Posted May 13, 2016 Great info there. Would love to try these if our host brings them in.
