GrouchoM Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 Cinco de Mayo (pronounced: [ˈsiŋko ðe ˈmaʝo]; Spanish for "May 5th", or literally, "Fifth of May") is a celebration held onMay 5. The date is observed to commemorate the Mexican Army's unlikely victory over French forces at theBattle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo is sometimes mistaken to be Mexico's Independence Daythe most important national holiday in Mexicowhich is celebrated on September 16. 1
Franko Posted May 6, 2016 Posted May 6, 2016 True that and Americans celebrate more then Mexican ppl..... Drinking margaritas:))
ElJefeDeNada Posted May 7, 2016 Posted May 7, 2016 It should be noted that General Ignacio Zaragoza was born in Goliad, Texas, which gives Texans another reason to celebrate the day. Of course, Texans will celebrate anything at the drop of a bull calf's testicles. So there's that too.
