El Presidente Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 For all intensive purposes, one can only guess that the Trindad Vigia was a repositioning or the Trinidad Robusto "T" which was an excellent cigar but just didn't sell in the quantities HSA sought. Now the Vigia has been a success sales wise.....however.....much of that I suspect has been due to limited production volumes. For those that have smoked both How do they compare to your mind? Did Habanos get it right?
ChanceSchmerr Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I preferred the flavour on the Robusto T than the Vigia (RoboT is Richer, Fuller, more complexity)- but my opinion doesn't really matter as I wasn't necessarily buying mulitple boxes of either of them..... It IS easier just to say "Vigia is shorter and fatter, therefore a worse cigar than the Robusto T", but even though that is my general mentality, I DO try many of these fatter cigars when they come out, just to see...but only in singles rather than boxes. Seems wrong to bag a vitola without trying a few.... Anyway, off my soapbox. I thought Robusto T was a tastier cigar. If HSA is selling the numbers of Vigias they want to sell, then they got it right from their perspective. Not mine. 1
asmartbull Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 T over V all day long! "With your shield, or on it"...
westg Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Certainly didn't agree with the T getting the chop. That said still have a box from 2010 so probably didn't smoke them enough along with everyone else . I really like the size of the Vigia , I have been through two boxes AEM Dec 14 and can say they have been the most enjoyable Trinidad's ever for me. Funny you post this as I just took one out of box number three to take to work with me . Really wish they came in cabs of 25 at a better price point . I guess here in Aus most people would pass on them and go for something else .
oliverdst Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Never had a T. Had just one Vigia tubo. Medíocre. I am sure there is something more there, maybe I will try another one tonight.
Cohiba007 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I've only smoke two Vs and plenty of Ts. I much prefer the T judging from the two Vs that I've had.
Lant63 Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I'll break the streak. I have never had a robusto t. But I have smoked a handful of trex, and I think the vigia is a very very good cigar. In fact I wanted to hate the vigia but I just can't. I like the vigia enough to not try and search for boxes of the robusto t to try. I think it's a slam dunk for habanos sa even though I wish it was a different size. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lotusguy Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 I never cared for the Robusto T. Good riddance. I really enjoy the Vigia - when it's not underfilled - despite the stupid vitola.
Mahstah Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Enjoy the heck outta the T, imo a much fuller flavor profile that I enjoy.
hjmclain22 Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I haven't had the pleasure of the RoboT but the Vigia is certainly one of my favorites, it's the only petit robusto style cigar I own.
shamz84 Posted May 20, 2016 Posted May 20, 2016 Earlier in the year i tried the Reyes and really enjoyed it and wanted to try some more of the Triny bran. I was looking to get the Viga Tubos, however i was lucky as may mate was working in Europe and found a box of the Robusto T as they are discontinues they were quite pricy. I had the Robusto T after BBQ dinner over the weekend, it helped that the stogie was about 6 years old..However the flavours in the smoke were just great... I enjoyed the hell of of the cigar and nubbed it until i couldn't hold it anymore!!! Amazing smoke!!! if you can get hold of one... i highly recommended them!

See, therein lies my problem: I don't want to get hooked on a discontinued cigar. I absolutely fell in love with the Ramon Allones Robusto Corto (2013 RE Paises Bajos) and it was hell scoring a cab recently. The once relatively easy-to-come-by cigar fell off the face of the earth as retailers ran out. I'd hate to love the Robo T, because (with my naturally addictive nature) I'd kill my bank account sourcing them out!
