Ken Gargett Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 the great ashtray in the thread on the 40th cohiba smokes got me wondering. any others out there? i am not yet up to posting photos - may bring it up so rob can - but my favourite is one that i must confess i pinched from a novatel hotel in burgundy. i was in a non-smoking room. in it was, so french, an ashtray. across the bottom of the ashtray is a 'no smoking' sticker. priceless.
Colt45 Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 My most recent favorite was a seashell while I was on vacation earlier this month. The one I use most often at home is square aluminum with four cigar indents that allow the cigar to rest totally on the ashtray.
JMH Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I've been on the lookout for a nice ashtray lately. I'd love something like pigfish's, but all I've seen around town is glass, not ceramic. I've never really seen proper cigar ashtrays in restaurants/hotels either. The place where I do most of my smoking (the Westin for those in sydney) just has those crappy generic glass cigarette ashtrays. It's right next to a bloody cigar store for crying out loud! You can't rest your cigar without having to put it in amongst all the ash and other crap.
Ken Gargett Posted December 31, 2005 Author Posted December 31, 2005 at home i just use a small glass jar but have one of rob's u-beaut ciagr-resters next to it, which all works a treat.
rumrogue Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 Black cat this ya bastards!! I have an ashtray made from a piston which was originally one of the eighteen in Pratt & Whitney's R-2800 cu. in radial engine, used to power aircraft like the Constellation & DC 6. I was given it as a leaving present years ago & it is one of my proudest posessions. Sad I know, but hey, I'm a sad demented & tortured soul! :-)
Loki Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I was an usher in a wedding recently and was gifted a Colabri cigar travel set. The set folds open to reveal an ashtray with a 2" long cigar rest, quite convenient . It also contains a single blade guillotine, useless, and a punch which works quite well. Well it the thought that counts and This gift will probably travel along with me and get some use. My deck ashtray is a pewter candy dish that is usually left out and a wonderful dish which I refer to as cigar soup is created after a good rain storm.
Ginseng Posted December 31, 2005 Posted December 31, 2005 I must have no class. I use a spaghetti sauce jar. Since I never put my cigars down, I don't need a rest. And it holds a ton of ash (the butts go into my flower bed) and when it's full, I just dump it out and start over. Wilkey

He is actually peeing on the swastika in the bottom of the ashtray.
SoCalSmoker Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Probably my favorite unique ashtray is the one in the posted link below: Very unique personal portable one that fits in your flat jacket pocket resting inside a nice leather sleeve. Would always get interesting and favorable comments whenever used. I ended up gifting it to a friend of mine in Sweden. http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/CA_Fe...,2344,9,00.html
Mel Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Opus X numbered collectors ashtray is my finest but the one I use the most is a Trinidad model signed by Rob and Lisa. I use a mussle shell from the river at the cabin.
Maverick Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Mine is one from the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. Too nice to use so I have a VSOP Courvosier Cognac Ashtray. That is what I use day to day. Ross...
guilow Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 My best ashtray is an old electrical housing box for a wall outlet. Now THAT'S fancy.

I like the Prometheus ashtrays for everyday use, with the price tag so low, you don't feel bad about putting a nub out in it! LOL! http://www.cigarmony.com/store/index.php?cPath=36 ~M
harwellplant Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 i have a couple of antique smoking stands that were my wife's grandfather's. if he sees this, xrun may share some pictures from some of the smoking stands he has refurbished. very nice work.
kab55 Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 I like the Craftsman Bench ashtrays for every day use.
skid11 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Maverick............. Top one mate I imagine you move the little slider along under your cigar as your smoke progresses. Very good ...........Nice Pic!:-D
mr.harten Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 My favortie ashtray would have to be my "Cigar Lounge" which was made by a gentleman named Bob Walton. He makes them for a very reasonable price and they perfectly cradle your cigar. This photo was taken less than an hour ago while smoking this SLR Regios.
Maverick Posted January 23, 2006 Posted January 23, 2006 » Maverick............. Top one mate I imagine you move the little slider » along under your cigar as your smoke progresses. Very good ...........Nice » Pic!:-D That is right. However, once the wife saw how much this cost 80EUR and as you can see from the pic the cigar is not lit. I am told its for show only!!!!!!! I bought this in Vienna at the Hotel Sacher, and had to transport it across Europe while we backpacked on our honeymoon. So it is a marvel that it actually survived back to Brisbane. Ross...
