Popular Post El Presidente Posted April 3, 2016 Popular Post Posted April 3, 2016 No Box Code. No pricing at this point. PCC just sent me a few singles to try while away this week. Fired one up yesterday while watcing my lads have a fish. These are the tasting notes. LA GLORIA CUBANA REVOLUTION SBN-VW-C/L-10-n-20 MONTESCO 130 55 Hefty cigar in the hand. Love the length, Not so much the gauge. Perfect draw. Excellent Colorado Wrapper. Cigar is slightly squashed thanks to Tom putting the reel bag on it. Mid bodied. Beautiful balance. Smooth. Slightly sweet/marshmallow? No, Marzipan. A touch of bite through the nose, just. Elegant. Baguette on the palate. Fresh baked bread. Takes me back to Spain (breakfast time) and dipping Tia Isabels fresh baked breakfast muffins in milky coffee. Smoke is viscous, thick, hanging in the air defying the late afternoon breeze. Remarkably white ash. Pushing above mid body. Not too far above. Should get tom to put on some sunscreen Crikey there is smoke everywhere. Beautifully rolled. Can’t hold the ash though. My fault, this should be smoked with a little more protection from the elements. Gorgeous cigar. Depth, richness, still so much more to come in the mid-term. ½ way point. Darker coffee elements. No hard edges. A little honey/apricot .....apricot honey? That would be a winner. Speak to Chef Mark in cafe. Note to self, leave chef alone for a week. Not getting hot towards end. Flavours are now a little muddled, not as defined. Heavy dough charachteristic. Yeast? Cream and dough/yeast/black coffee. A little like Tooheys old I drank at Kingscliff over Easter. Finished in just over 90 minutes. PCC on a winner. Cracker. 9
dflan82 Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Yep. Got my interest. Looking forward to these coming up on a 24:24. Thanks for the review.
Lant63 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Honestly not a huge fan of this 55x5.0 size they are rolling out. But, the RA 35th, and the JL Malecon are two of the best cigars I have smoked this year and they are the same size. Superb construction, draw, smoke production and taste. I look forward to this one as well. Edit: I will say, I have to criticize PCC for not requesting the "new" band the the UK used on their LGC release. After the Bushido Packaging I have to say I am disappointed PCC did not chose it. I know, the band has nothing to do with the cigar, but it would have been really cool.
Gusmab980 Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Looks great but that ring gauge seems excessively large, maybe if it was a figurado or a campana.
Pharmacovigilant Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 So they sent you a FEW singles to try? If you still have one that you don't know what to do with, I'll let you know how they smoke in the Northern Hemisphere. ?
Shikar Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 How would this compare to the LGC Paraiso, the 2014 regional? Regards.
oliverdst Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 So PCC done with Bushido? I think Rob Said something about it few days ago. If I am not wrong it's expected few more hundreds boxes for all PCC vendors (not sure).
zeedubbya Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 Sounds very nice. I really like the stream of thought review style. Think it works well. Can't wait to see some of these come through. Hopefully price is reasonable as well.
MPS Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 2500 boxes or 50,000 cigars of these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
jackupster Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Do we know what the count on the packaging will be? 10's like the Grandioso or 25's like the Bushido? I hope we get 10's. Puts them in my price range! 1
gojira Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Great review. I'm pretty sure to pull the trigger on a box if it's not priced to high (and if I'm awake when they will be posted).
kaleehb Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Yum! Sounds like a future purchase. Thanks for the review!
PapaDisco Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Well, at least it's a tad trimmed down from the Cohiba Robusto Supremo! That's still a bit stout for me, but based on that early review I'd still like to get a box or two for the humi. Several of the gang here are totally into the big fatties, and I don't mind the exercise either from time to time!
El Presidente Posted April 7, 2016 Author Posted April 7, 2016 Edit: I will say, I have to criticize PCC for not requesting the "new" band the the UK used on their LGC release. After the Bushido Packaging I have to say I am disappointed PCC did not chose it. I know, the band has nothing to do with the cigar, but it would have been really cool. In their defence. If you don't overcomplicate it...you may get it out on time...or close to it If you were dealing with competents you could really go to town on the packaging. Right now it is a matter of "just get the cigars we paid for". They are not alone. Most distributors have had issues and the issues have just become worse over the last few years.
melies Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 As always in our host side, he will get the best price on the best quality cigars from the batch. thanks Roberto and put me down for a box
