After a very long road and against horribly tough odds my wife is due to deliver our first child in June (first week). Given the long odds and the hard battle I find myself thankful of the support of great friends and family. I know its terribly cliche, but I would like to share cigars with a close cadre of brethren. What box (attainable in todays market) would you buy to signify such an event. What box would you buy knowing you would have the highest likelihood for 10 (min) amazing/memorable sticks. Knowing that the cigars don't make that occasion, but only enhance. This box is all about gratitude to those who shared this uphill battle with me. I see a night sharing these cigars with some great spirits and spirit. My experience with CCs is limited to medium at best, and would love to hear from collective with suggestions. So enough with my waterworks (apologies) .....what should I get? What would you get? Why?

Congratulations! I have two wonderful sons...15 and 22 respectfully

Avoid the top tier. Tough road, great all round cigars. The cigars that just deliver time after time.

BBF

BRC

CORO

898

Mag 56 *top tier but one to age.

HDM Epi 1.

Take some time and get one with the birth month, Don't leave it too long to make your request as it is a common problem.

Congrats! Our third coming any day now. Definitely defer to Prez on the suggestions. I would only consider who the friends are - whether they can handle a heavier smoke or should get a No. 1, etc.

Thank You guys!

These are all smokers and most would be NC smokers with all having had some limited CC experience. Some with deeper CC experience than others.

Congratulations!

Cohiba PE was the cigar I smoked after my last daughter was born. It was a great smoke on a great day!!

Get a full box with the month and birth year like El Pres sez, but that's not for your celebration night.

For that night I would suggest going with a 25 box of R&J Churchills. The current production is smash on and they are perfect ROTT (right off the truck). While I love the R&J's (and have many boxes aging) I'm more partial to Punch, but your whole crew isn't necessarily going to recognize a Punch. Get the R&J and besides being a great tasting cigar it will immediately add to the event especially for those guys who know little . . . even they will recognize this stick.

I think you also want a churchill because you want to make an evening of it. No 45 minute robusto for this night! cigar.gif

Now, if you have to get a 10 box of something that's tougher. Partagas Lusitanias have been good of late, not sure if they've been as predictably good as the R&J's, but they do come in 10 count boxes.

If you don't need a recognizable name on the band (like R&J or Partagas or Cohiba) then I would also recommend the Punch '11 Sabrosos that El Pres has on the online shopping cart. A consistent, delicious pyramid and a good price. The Montecristo Churchill Anejado is also outstanding but it's going to cost you $200/box than a current production stick.

Congratulations on the upcoming birth. There's nothing greater in the world!

Congrats!! No one can accurately describe how you will feel and be changed when it happens. Godspeed.

1.) RYJ Churchills like Papa Disco said

2.) A 10 box of Monte 2s I got of of here would be close second.

3.) If you want to spend the coin and can find them a 10 box of Siglo VI (or maybe a hand picked 10 of Genios, because I think the box is awesome!)

4.) Have Rob pick you a PSP box of HDM Epicure Especial-- I love this cigar.

As an alternative to CC's Fuente has a nice little cigar called It's a Boy/Girl with babyblue/pink on the cellophane.

I've used it as a celebration smoke for the birth of a nephew of a friend and they are really good little sticks (about mareva size) with a palette that will appeal to most.

Congratulations! I may go against the grain a bit here, but I would shoot for a tubo. Why? Because most of the time you hand these out in a place where smoking may be less than encouraged, ie: hospital, restaurant, church. Plus most tubos come in sizes that would not be too intimidating for the non-smoker or occasional smoker. I opted for Monte Tubos and they went over very well with all who received. Of course, the true cigar smokers chose their stick from my humidor at the house a few weeks later (when I finally got a hall pass...)

Congratulations Sir!

I would probably go with a box of 10 Siglo VI. They're special, and the 10 box is really nicely presented. Mind you, you said that you want a minimum of 10 great smokes, so it might be somewhat difficult to find 10 great cigars in a pack of 10....let's go with a cab of 25 for safety! :)

Congratulations, and continued well wishes for the months ahead. May he and your family be happy and healthy!

My immediate thought for a cigar was Coro. For those of us that have smoked CCs for several years, we know that there are MANY beautiful cigars to be had. But Cohiba is iconic, and even those who don't know anything about CCs know of Cohiba.

A Coro is a great size with quintessential Cuban flavor. Just my
