Thrassos Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 What is the source? Are we sure this is the one?
El Presidente Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I would take a chill pill. i can't believe that the photo is representative of the final presentation. Hells bells, if it were I would run a 100 miles....as opposed to the 50 miles currently
Ryan Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 What is the source? Are we sure this is the one? I first saw that picture shared by a Swiss/German retailer. I could be wrong but I have a feeling Nino took that picture.
Ryan Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I kinda like the bands, but am less than impressed with the wrapper consistency.... Hopefully that was a pile of seconds... They don't put bands on cigars that don't make the grade. Habanos doesn't have seconds. One thing I like about the presentation is the image of the 1966 Cohiba band on the bottom label. I think that's a nice touch, though it could have been more prominent. I think that's the Cohiba Majestuoso/Oro 58 X 160. 1,966 boxes of 20. Haven't heard pricing yet. There is to be a Cohiba Mitico/Platino too, 60 X 178. I've heard 50 humidors of 50. There are unsubstantiated rumours of $100k per humidor for those. I've seen the Cohiba Medio Siglo. It's a Short Behike. 1
Fumadoro Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I too am surprised by the lower (appearing) quality of the wrapper. Hopefully this is just a very unflattering photo, though I will most likely not be smoking any of these! Haha!
Smallclub Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Seems they're using Connecticut wrappers 1
Puros Y Vino Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That looks like a wider shot of the same photo in the first post with a filter to make the wrappers look darker. I do like the foot band but the gold on yellow color scheme is horrible. Seriously bad design. Too gaudy. This looks like a release for the well heeled only.
Ryan Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I don't think that's yellow on gold, it's probably the lighting. I think it's matte gold on gloss gold, which can look well. Think PL Magnificos. That, and the quality of the wrappers, can be hard to judge from a single photo. And so far, there is only one picture. That one.
Artist Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I don't get the criticism with the bands, how is gold and black or yellow or white not cohiba? That's more or less the colors of the Marca Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mgravito Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Hope I don't get tomatoes thrown my way, but I really like. It should be gaudy, it's a gold anniversary.
TheMonk Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Forgetting about the very weird (hideous?) looking bands, which may be partially due to the light, the difference between those wrappers is alarming, specially for such an expensive stick... Not good, at all.

Not good, at all. The consistency between them tells me those are probably going to wind up in two slotted cigar coffins for the Festival?
Orion21 Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 The photo seems to have been manipulated with a filter to enhance the contrast. People are going to buy these no matter the cost. What's the over under on these . . . $100 a stick?

luv2fly Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Pictures are not always worth a 1000 words. That said, I will pass unless someone wants to give me one.
MPS Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I'm looking forward to trying one. I hope. One would think they would knock the blend and quality out of the park for 50. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
LGC Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 You guys can have them. I'll spend the money on a box of PCs and a bottle of rum. 1
luv2fly Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 You guys can have them. I'll spend the money on a box of PCs and a bottle of rum. My thoughts exactly!!! I would take multiple boxes of my go to over these. Again, that said I would be happy to take one for the team if I were to be so lucky to get one..... Not a shill guys, just a funny. Whoever smokes one, please give a review!
Bclass1 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 They don't look like 60 to me? Don't know if 60rg is a fact but the 50th anniversary release has been posted before. It contained an article claiming a 60rg x 178 if I'm not mistaken. This is obviously not confirmed, just what I remember.
NSXCIGAR Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 IMHO, these have collectible value only. Depending on release numbers, these things may triple in value after 5 years. Considering the North American preference for large RG, these may be some of the most sought-after releases if/when the embargo lifts. For me, if I feel like smoking a big Cohiba, I'll get myself an ARG Esplendido which will almost certainly be better than these.
oliverdst Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 2 humidors Cohiba 50 Aniversario Humidor (Elie Blue) = 50 units. 1 to be auctioned during the Festival. 49 to be auctioned among Habanos distributors and dealers all over the world. All of them with certificate of ownership. Vitola: Grandiosos (60x178) Humidor Cohiba 1966 1966 units Vitola: Majestuosos (58x150) Solid info but we never know. 3
dangolf18 Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 USA will lead the way...he'll probably have 5 humidors in no time.
Lotusguy Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 The so called preference for 60+ RG in US is really not the case anymore - look at all the lanceros selling like hot cakes. 3
