Ken Gargett Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 Congratulations to the Broncos. I didn't see the second quarter. Did Carolina have a chance to go field goal at all in the back half (i.e with 7 munutes left and less) and not take it? You'd think 13-10 down at halftime may have made a difference to the final result. if they had played a bit quicker and better, they could have but they didn't do that. can't believe they played so poorly. re my previous post, certainly not saying that if that call had been correct that carolina would have won - not the way they played. but it didn't help. 1
Yagermeister Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 There were a number of questionable calls, but the fact remains my Panthers just didn't show up for this game. Such a disappointment after such an impressive season. The defense put forth a good effort but the offense was pitiful. Credit to Denver's defense, but I don't think that was the whole story. Poor playcalling and shaky nerves seemed to keep us off our game more than anything else. Oh well. Congrats to the Sheriff. Well deserved and a good way to go out.
TonyAccardo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 understand (actually, i assumed that was what you meant and i was being an unnecessary smartarse). given the number who defer these days, and the quality of the carolina defence, i'd have done the same. for me, the problem was that disgraceful no-catch call. i was leaning to carolina but not all that fussed either way. was hoping for a good game. but i thought that carolina copped some seriously dodgy calls. almost as though there was a conspiracy to send PM out a winner. not saying there was, of course. but that call does not go against them, they are marching up field instead of being 7-0 down. who knows then. My brother and I thought the same thing about a few of those calls too and were big Broncos fans FYI. We immediately thought "Vegas must be on the phone with this one." The game seemed a little fishy to me, a bit contrived in parts on both teams parts.
Guest scsi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 only 7 months till the start of a new season Go Patriots! 1
zappaFREAK Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 It seemed to me that Cam did not have his heart in the game. He was very off of his exuberant self. Manning was cool as a cucumber and did what had to be done. Neither qbs put on an all star showing. Did any one see the post game interviews? I have never seen a more sullen and non professional interview as Newton have! Hats off to the Broncos! Congrats!
David88 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Cam looked fed up through the whole second half. Things were really not going his way and nothing seemed to be able to change it. The Denver defence was massive and roughed him up all game and his receivers didnt help by offering minimal opportunities. Im glad Manning can go out with a Superbowl, but his performance today was not one to remember in my opinion.
shlomo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Denver win, manning int, denver 2 pt conversion, super under of 39.5, manning under 24 completions.....= payout!
shlomo Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I wonder how much money Lady Gaga made on the national anthem prop bet. She really stretched it out...lol Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk How could they possibly know she would add a couple extra notes?! Vegas Football League.

Hats off to the Broncos! Congrats! saw parts of cam's. utterly petulant. lost a lot of respect for that. sure, might be tough but you earn millions and that is part of it. at least apologise for not being chatty in the circumstances. everyone would understand. but that was appalling. it also showed no respect to manning and the broncos. i'd been hoping for the panthers but after that, rather glad they didn't. 1
wabashcr Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Glad to see Peyton win another one, even if they won almost in spite of him, and not because of him. Everyone thought Cam and Carolina's offense would be a different and more significant challenge than New England's offense, but Denver's defense proved to be transcendent. They did the exact same things to Cam that they did to Brady. Hope Cam learned from the experience. You never know if you'll get another chance. I hope he does. He's fun to watch. As for the catch/no-catch that led to the sack/fumble/TD, the important thing to remember is that the call on the field was incomplete. In the replay, as he was rolling over, you saw the ball move up his body. You couldn't tell from any of the angles if that happened due to contact with the ground. It looked like his hand was under the ball. But it wasn't definitive. Hence the replay ruling that the call stood. That's a different ruling than the call being confirmed. Call stands means there wasn't indisputable video evidence to overturn the call. If it had been ruled a catch on the field, and Denver had challenged, replay wouldn't have overruled that, either. Like most people, I thought it was a catch. But I think they applied the replay rules properly for once. That said, instant replay has become the bane of my football viewing. Reviews take forever, happen too often, and rarely leave you feeling satisfied that justice has been served. It's also why we have so many convoluted definitions for what constitutes things like catches and fumbles. The referees now aren't nearly as precise, knowing every call will be subjected to microscopic video review. I'd rather live with a few bad calls every week.
Mr.T Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Loved watching the Broncos defense completely dominate and dismantle the Panthers offense. Congrats Broncos!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
RolandHeadlessGunner Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Peyton Manning played as the oldest quarterback in SuperBowl history and now has the greatest number of wins in NFL history, when playoff games are included. For us old guys, it was a satisfying win. For us Seahawks fans, it was a very satisfying win!
brutusthebuckeye Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Cam got exposed last night... Not a great leader... Total pu$$y for not diving on fumble.. Run first/option QB... Go Browns... 1

The referees now aren't nearly as precise, knowing every call will be subjected to microscopic video review. I'd rather live with a few bad calls every week. i understand the reasoning but the bottom line is that, for whatever reason, they got it wrong. the bloke caught the ball. to me, absolutely not a possible shred of doubt. i follow the thought behind not sufficient evidence etc etc, but that has led to an incorrect call, which had a massive impact on the most important game of the year. surely the entire point of stopping the game for a replay (and i agree with you with respect to the attitude to reviewing except then i think that if the refs make a bad call on the last p;lay of the superbowl, surely we need to be able to address that), is to end up with the right decision?
mikemerry Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 if that was not a catch, i'll swim to the states. what a truly awful decision. they get that correct and no touchdown. mind you, allow me to remind broncos fan what happened the last time their team led 10 to nil in the superbowl. doug williams anyone? the glorious skins? five TDs in the 2nd quarter. and who are these ddreadful commentators? It's not a catch. Ball touches the ground and it spins. Ask Calvin Johnson about it...... BRONCOS RULE.....get that speedo on Ken... I'll have a double corona waiting for you! Ken Gargett Posted February 8, 2016 Author Posted February 8, 2016 fair enough. that suggests i am completely wrong.
LLC Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 When I saw the replays I though for sure it was a catch and the ex ref in the booth also said he'd rule it a catch but seeing the picture makes me think they got it right.
Dozerhead Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Good pic. I thought that was a catch all the way, but it looks like I was wrong, too.
NCPANTHERZFAN Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Cam got exposed last night... Not a great leader... Total pu$$y for not diving on fumble.. Run first/option QB... Go Browns... Ah yes, Johnny Football on the other hand the epitome of a QB lol. Go (home) Browns!
El Presidente Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 fair enough. that suggests i am completely wrong. Known him for 20 years and that is the first time ken has ever admitted he was wrong. PM or e-mail me for a cigar mikemerry 1
