Duxnutz Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Howdy folks. It's a New Year and the lady is talking again about moving back to the Midwest. I'm a fan but the winters are bloody brutal. Probably my major sticking point. So what's the upsides to a genuine winter?
Popular Post earthson Posted February 2, 2016 Popular Post Posted February 2, 2016 Snowshoes, no bugs, your cigar collection gets a 3-6 month aging boost, and winter separates the strong from the weak! 7
westg Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 We start work at sunrise... so in winter an extra hour sleep...I really love early morning spring and summer though... more than anyone.Sure it will work out for you..
Squarehead Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 That spring comes after winter.I used to love winter when I was working in construction in the 70's and 80's.Now that I'm in my 70's not so much anymore
perkinke Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 The part I love most about winter is the end of winter ^^Total agreement. The only thing I really like about winter are the cold, clear nights which are few and far between here.
airtrade Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I enjoy driving in the snow and how quiet it is after a nice snowfall. Although I'm much happier when spring begins!
Puros Y Vino Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 A nice clean blanket of snow for Christmas. Otherwise my favourite part is when it's over. The older I get the less tolerable of winter I become. 3
irratebass Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Nothing! Which part of the Midwest you talking about moving to? 1
mash Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 That it ends. I moved from Eastern Canada to the West Coast to get away from winter.
Easttide Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I live in the midwest as well. Not enough snow to enjoy the outdoors and beauty but dreary enough for SDD. I truly love the holidays and playoff football but the stretch from Jan-Mid March is tough... but then it's time for our annual trip to the FL Keys which is, by far, my favorite part of winter.
mcease022 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 your cigar collection gets a 3-6 month aging boost That about sums it up. Nothing more to say.
luv2fly Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 That picture. Other than that not thing one, except the end.
wabashcr Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I don't like winter itself, but I love the changing of the seasons, especially spring and fall. Without winter I wouldn't enjoy spring as much. And without an oppressively hot summer, I wouldn't enjoy fall as much. This past weekend we had spring-like weather. Temp was in the 50s. It was glorious. I love days like that. Winter makes it all possible. I generally dislike snow, but there's something to be said about the serenity of the first real snowfall of the year, especially at night and without much wind.
Bill Hayes Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 If it's winter in the Southern Hemisphere - The South Pacific Islands If it's winter in the Northern Hemisphere - Australia
subport Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I am going against everone here, hehe. I pretty much like everything about winter. The late sunrise, the early sunset - yes, I like the darkness of it. It has a very strange feeling in a good way. Love the family nights and days when its dark and nothing else to do just get together. Like the snow, like wintersports, like cold weather. You can always put on more clothes but nothing to take off when its 30-40 C and cant move but sweat. Love northern lights, landscapes, ice, glaciers, mountains, driving on snow (not that much on ice) well... I know this is not too common but everbody to his own. I am a winter guy. Have always been.
skalls Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Had cold snowy winters my whole life and for the forseeable future. They suck. 1
Vetteman Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Nothing that can't be satisfied by a week or two vacation (if necessary)
Miller1985 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I live in northern Indiana and there's very little I enjoy about winter. If I've gotta pick some positives... When it's crystal fricken clear in the mornings the stars are beautiful. I can drink more coffee. Ummmmmmmm.... Yup that's bout ir
Duxnutz Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 Nothing! Which part of the Midwest you talking about moving to? Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
LLC Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Going away somewhere warm to get away from winter is about the only thing I like about winter. 1
NapaNolan Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Clouds, rain, jackets, seeing your breath, less traffic, the smell of fireplaces burning, Christmas lights.
