TonyAccardo Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Por Larranaga Picadores ULE Jul 15. Not a bad flavor but the wrapper will not keep up with the filler as it combusts. I get sick of people telling me that they will never improve because I've had cigars with the same problem, even out in their combustion as they sat for several years. It only makes sense to me too, as tobacco ages, it becomes less hygroscopic, not to mention the cigar needing to become drier as they are quite new. So it is my plan to just let the remaining 22 or 23 Picadores just sit at the bottom for many years.
Yagermeister Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 A box of undated Upmann PCs - They were the best looking wrappers I've ever seen, but they all taste like soap. 2010 VR Famosos - Boring. The only VRs I've ever had and I have a bad first impression. 2012 Sancho Panza Non Plus - I just can't get down with the "salt and driftwood" notes. Not my thing.
Overproof Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 RyJ Cazadores: Dog waste in a colored box! That is why the wrap them in foil... Haha
CaptainQuintero Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I recently picked up a flor de cano petit siboney (canadian regional edicion). It was so bad I put it out after half. It's twin brother galls me whenever i open my humidor, knowing that i paid CDN premium prices to try this dog rocket They get slammed every time I see someone reviewing them, are they just wrong on all levels?
heminway186 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 They get slammed every time I see someone reviewing them, are they just wrong on all levels? To its credit I loved the size and it has a handsome appearance. However the flavour profile was very harsh and one dimensional, and the scent reminiscent of varsol.
skalls Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Got some Quintero Favoritos that have been all over the place. One cigar was bloody brilliant. The next couple were rolled way too tight to smoke. Had 5-6 that were smoked well and were very average. Then had a couple that were just bad. My brother got the rest of them to hand out to his golfing buddies. Who loved them. H Upmann Half Corona and Bolivar Coronas JR with some really pale looking wrappers. Again most of those are going to my brother. 1
BigRay023 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I've got about 20 or so each of LFDC Selectos and Fonsec Cosacos. Got them from those notoriously horrible "fire sales" before I knew any better. I took the paper off all the Cosacos, that was a mistake. There is a reason for them!

KRunch61 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Ok, all, in the true spirit of public service, I've decided to accept the burden of taking all unwanted cigars off your hands. I know, with so much cynicism in the world, you're asking yourselves "How can such an altruistic act be possible, especially on a cigar forum?" Well, I'm here to release you from your burdens AND to revive your belief in humanity! Just pm me and I'll handle the rest! 1
noreaster Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Late '99 ERDM Elegantes.....looks like a box of pencils....like trying to smoke a pencil...timeframe should've been a red flag...terrible
polarbear Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 A Ton of NCs that I used to love when I first got into cigars, mainly Alec Bradley Overture Robustos 2005- They were by go to stick for a while. My tastes matured and now they taste like burnt plastic to me La Flor Dominicana Salmones from 2008- Went on a bit of a big format buying spree a while ago. While I still love a Sal, these have aged out to a point where they taste like newspaper La Flor Dominicana Diggers (7.5x65rg) from 2009- See above also, bloddy massive stick Asylum 8x80 from 2013- Got it for free. Makes my jaw hurt just looking at it Obsidian While Label Corona- An Iron Fist in an Iron Glove. Smoked one a year ago and it was so strong I almost threw up. I'm not normally a guy who gets "nic sick" (Opus X were my go to breakfast smoke for a while) but these things are all power, no glory VR Unicos from 2010- Grabbed a 5'er from a mate when he bought a box. The wrappers are "post-it note yellow" and the 3 I've tried all taste like burnt hair 2
Cohiba Stevie Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Not much in my humi that i would throw away... The one standout in there is the 3 bolivar britanicas (british RE 2011) remaining when i bought five a few years back First one tasted terrible - was plugged Second one tasted terrible - was also plugged. Worst thing about these is i bought them in edinburgh while on a trip with the woman and i paid full retail, these were expensive. Abololute crap 1
Johneastridge Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Have a box of Por Larranaga Pantelas that is 85% plugged. Not even worth dealing with..
ElPuro Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 We should do blind trades. Each party includes a great stick and a hated stick. Tastes differ, right?

To its credit I loved the size and it has a handsome appearance. However the flavour profile was very harsh and one dimensional, and the scent reminiscent of varsol. I have not had many, but I like them. Just find they are stupidly priced and will sit on shelves for yrs to come.....I am glad I bought plenty with a stronger loonie and lower prices. 1
Orion21 Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 A box of 2009 RyJ Short Churchills. Every single one has been bland. They are at the bottom back of one of my humidors. I will pull them out if I go golfing just to have something to smoke that doesn't require any thought. All of my Canadian RE's, aside from the B-2. I love my Canadian brother's, but their distributor needs a course in cigar blending. Have not been a fan. Cheers!
JohnInCleveland Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 We all have them Remnants of a box, cigars that just are woeful (at least to your taste), the ones that have never come good, singles that you know deep down you are never going to smoke. I am not talking about the ones with serious construction issues (they should have been pegged or piped long ago), but the ones that just take up room....or worse...they annoy you with their sheer presence. I had a good look at my desktop home humidor Sunday afternoon. These I can live without! Trinidat Short Robusto LE 2010. Not to my taste. I didn't like them then, I don't like them now. Don't particularly like the size. Romeo y Julieta Piramide circa 2002. The worst cigar ever made out of Cuba. If astringency is a feature then it is loaded with character. Vegueros Seoane 1998. They are never going to come good Rob...Never. Crap in crap out. Grow up. Montecristo Petit No 2 (2013). Just smoke a Monte 2 or a Monte Edmundo/Petit Edmundo. God knows that is what I do. One of the dumbest releases in recent memory (and there have been a few). La flor De cano Selectos (2000?) Have been in my humidor since before the birth of my youngest son. He is 15. Have never seen uglier cigars. Probably the reason I brought a half dozen home. My last tasting notes were from march 2005 and it simply reads "You own a cigar business you idiot. Smoke something else. Cohiba Panetelas 2006. Thankfully the box doesn't take up much room. Half a dozen left. Tasted bitter when i got them. Taste bitter today. Bitter tooth picks. I have had good ones from other boxes over the years but somehow these missed all the good bits. Fonseca KDT (2001). Not sure why I brought them. Flavour free zone in these. I will bring them into the humidor at work and put them on for a Friday session. My generosity is boundless My favorite part of your post is how mad you sound at yourself for some of them. Can't pick winners every time, judging by the quality on here the past several months, you've had an awful lot of hits to balance out those misses, take heart!
Tesoro12 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 For me it's some 2001 Cohiba Lanceros. Had the first one around '09 and it was pretty good but not phenomenal, tough draw. Had 1 2 years back and 1 last month and they were utterly unsmokeable. Completely plugged. Ended up cutting one of them up and found the plug was almost 2/3rd's the way up the cigar, very unique. It's too bad as aged Lancero's are so tasty!
WhiteMamba Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I have some NC's that I gift from time to time. Other than that I meet very few cigars that I don't like or atleast tolerate.
