We all have them lol3.gif

Remnants of a box, cigars that just are woeful (at least to your taste), the ones that have never come good, singles that you know deep down you are never going to smoke. I am not talking about the ones with serious construction issues (they should have been pegged or piped long ago), but the ones that just take up room....or worse...they annoy you with their sheer presence.

I had a good look at my desktop home humidor Sunday afternoon. These I can live without!

  • Trinidat Short Robusto LE 2010. Not to my taste. I didn't like them then, I don't like them now. Don't particularly like the size.
  • Romeo y Julieta Piramide circa 2002. The worst cigar ever made out of Cuba. If astringency is a feature then it is loaded with character.
  • Vegueros Seoane 1998. They are never going to come good Rob...Never. Crap in crap out. Grow up.
  • Montecristo Petit No 2 (2013). Just smoke a Monte 2 or a Monte Edmundo/Petit Edmundo. God knows that is what I do. One of the dumbest releases in recent memory (and there have been a few).
  • La flor De cano Selectos (2000?) Have been in my humidor since before the birth of my youngest son. He is 15. Have never seen uglier cigars. Probably the reason I brought a half dozen home. My last tasting notes were from march 2005 and it simply reads "You own a cigar business you idiot. Smoke something else.
  • Cohiba Panetelas 2006. Thankfully the box doesn't take up much room. Half a dozen left. Tasted bitter when i got them. Taste bitter today. Bitter tooth picks. I have had good ones from other boxes over the years but somehow these missed all the good bits.
  • Fonseca KDT (2001). Not sure why I brought them. Flavour free zone in these.

I will bring them into the humidor at work and put them on for a Friday session. My generosity is boundless ok.gif

Phew...I just blew a sigh of relief as I have none of those (thank GOD!) lol3.gif

I had a look at my home inventory and I don't have any cigars that are uniformly bad, perhaps some have had construction issues, or I smoked them in less than favourable conditions recently (i.e. over 35°C or 95°F or when recent thunderstorms have hit Sydney).

A pair of monstrous NCs gifted by a well meaning but ill advised good friend after a trip abroad many moons ago. At least 54rg, toothy wrapper and horrible candela shade. Emit a remarkably strong aniseed aroma…have wrecked a small humi by hiding them (alone) in there, and then forgetting about them for a few years.

A box of '12 JL petit coronas which 80% of were plugged, usually a great cigar just these ones were awful. Only box that I've had trouble with apart from the odd one or two.

A brace of JLP Cazadores

Half a box of Monte PE's that I don't think are ever going to come half way to good

same as above on some PSD4 but I think the last one I smoked was actually alright so I will re-visit.

Some NC's

I have a couple boxes of '12 (I believe) Choix that are terrible when I got them and every 6 months since. I haven't given up but...

Half a box of RA belvederes that are plugged and rock hard. Don´t know why I keep them because I will never be able to smoke them.

I have 5 left from a 10 count box of Cohiba Maduro Genios from 2007. Smoked half the box and finally realised they just aren't to my taste. They are constructed well and they are quality cigars...just not for me. Will either give them away or trade.

Also have some stupid unbanded thing that came with my humidor (which was a gift from my wife). It was supposed to be a CC sampler but I highly doubt it is Cuban. I'm guessing it will just sit in my humidor forever as I have no intention of smoking it.

Other than that I'm happy with all my purchases so far and look forward to smoking through everything.

I have quite a few NCs I've picked up over the years that I will probably never smoke. Mostly singles from trades and what not. As for CCs, I have a 2014 box of RASCC that hasn't been to my liking at all. Have probably smoked 4-5, and they've all been bad. They're at the bottom of a cooler somewhere, and probably won't see the light of day for at least another year or two. Being newer to CC's, I've been lucky to have mostly recent boxes, which have all been pretty good. I've had a few bad examples in otherwise solid boxes. Only the RASCC approach what I would consider to be a bad box. Hoping they just need a couple years down.

lmao.gif O.K., now that's a funny read. I spewed my wine at "You own a cigar business . . ." lmao.gif

I have no where near the diversity of such a list but there are a couple of fugly sticks lurking in my box. The most egregious so far is . . . [drum roll] . . . a box of 2012 Bolivar Royal Corona tubos! ohmy.png I know, I know, everyone else likes these and lord knows I'm a big fan of the Gigantes, but these suckers are like trying to smoke AND swallow sandpaper at the same time . . . 80 grit . . . ! And age has not improved them. They are so bad I can't even bring myself to foist them off on unsuspecting strangers. So why the heck do I keep them in the humi? Worse yet, why did I sample more than three?? tongue.png "You have a zillion other cigars you idiot why are you smoking those dog rockets?!" tongue.png

Oodles of cardboard pack Magnum 46s that are very hit or miss. When I finally had a fresh 2015 mag 46 it just made me desire a box of the youngin's. The mongrel really is a thing.

I also have around 500 non Cubans collecting dust. I actually like it when it's humid out so I can burn a few.

I am sitting on a box of Monte 4s that are very bitter. I have them for close to a year now and sampling them on regular basis (every couple of months) and they are not improving. For some reason I have had bad experiences with Monte 4s in general, not the first bad box. I am considering giving up on them.

A box of Choix Supreme. Taste like soap.

This is so true, I have a half a box left and they have all been crap.

I still like some NC's a lot, but I have probably 50 from 4-6 years ago that I'll never smoke. I give them to friends that are likely to bite the cap off with their teeth anyway.

Cohiba Piramides 2006 EL

Ramon Allones El Stupidos 2007 RE

2005 SLR DC

Wow. Tastes really vary. I love both of these, sorry I don't have more Cohibas especially.

... they are easy to find. They have flameproof wrappers and are identified as child safe with the second band!

I have largely gotten rid of most of the garbage by only buying cigars that I know I like for more than a decade now. This does not mean that I am exempt to holding cigars that I don't like. Not liking to trade or sell cigars, as well as being able to build a new humidor on a whim just keep me married to them I guess!

Things I don't or won't likely smoke:

Punch SS2... I give them away occasionally because someone 'must have' one.

Trinidad Coloniales; original release, I just keep pushing them back into space.

Siglo 6: Original release. I am thinking that someday I will be able to buy a Porsche by selling them. -LOL

ERdM Tainos: Same as the Punch SS2.

LGC cigars... These cigars just defy me. I have broken my rule, "I don't look to like cigars," more with these than any other cigar.

RASS and Cohiba Robustos. Been 10+ years since I bought them... and I still have them!

RyJ Cazadores: Dog waste in a colored box! That is why the wrap them in foil...

Cigars from the 70's and 80's: Yes, I was a sucker once! Bought them when I was naive and thought that the age of a cigar mattered more than vitola. I smoke one once in a while, thankfully I don't have many left!

I should really smoke some of these cigars, but it is easier to go to the humidor, grab a RA PC and smoke a great cigar. So that is what I do...

I recently picked up a flor de cano petit siboney (canadian regional edicion). It was so bad I put it out after half. It's twin brother galls me whenever i open my humidor, knowing that i paid CDN premium prices to try this dog rocket

SLR Lonsdales from the 2004-ish time frame. Plugged beyond comprehension; like sucking on a broomstick. I've dry boxed, poked, prodded, drilled, and done everything I have thought of to open them up. No bueno. I think I have five left from a box split I did with a guy. Can't bring myself to pitch the lot, though what usually happens is I'll try one, fiddle with it for a few, then pitch it anyway.....

I have two 2001 HdM Churchhills left that were a construction disaster. It's like there was a self distruct mechanism built into them that as soon as they were lit them immeadiately started to unravel .

I was gifted some Guantanamera cristales while traveling in China a couple years ago. As much as I would like to think that one day I have to try one, it just feels like I'm signing up for dissapointment so I doubt I ever will...
