mcease022 Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 Hi All, I read somewhere (I think in the top 25 of 2015) that 25's of a certain cigar were great and 10's were outstanding. Why would the box size affect the quality of the cigar?
Smallclub Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 It doesn't. Some batches are better than some others, that's all; nothing to do with packaging. 1

perkinke Posted January 30, 2016 Posted January 30, 2016 I have heard from some other folks that sometimes factory staff will "hide" lower quality, or off color sticks on the bottom row of a 25 box where with a 10 there isn't that chance. I haven't bought enough of the same sticks in each quantity to say from personal experience.

perkinke Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Like I said, relating what others with more experience have told me, and besides, where else are going to get Cubans?
mcease022 Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Like I said, relating what others with more experience have told me, and besides, where else are going to get Cubans? You can get them on any beach in the Caribbean for 1/4 of the price

Does anybody know for sure whether the inspectors turn the box upside down to inspect the bottom row to guard against this?

I guess most members with a minimum experience of smoking through 25-count dress boxes will be able to confirm that this is just BS. Urban legend or perhaps one of the stories spread by NC makers.... 1

Ferrero Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Does anybody know for sure whether the inspectors turn the box upside down to inspect the bottom row to guard against this? Can't comment on the procedures in Cuba but I know that Rob inspects both layers when selecting stock for 24:24. Logistics are also required to flip the box and check both layers before shipping.
polarbear Posted February 1, 2016 Posted February 1, 2016 Only difference I could see making a difference to the quality of the smoke would be Dress Boxes vs Cabs and usually only in aged examples. That being said, I've heard a number of people say that the quality of 50 Cabs are better than the same stick in a Dress Box I can comment on that though but all the 50 cabs I've ordered blind have all be great looking and well smoking ROTT
