Easttide Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 Wild Turkey 101 is another fantastic bourbon at a cheap price. Like wine, all bourbons are better after they open up a bit. 1
dangolf18 Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 EHCT Small Batch Henry McKenna 10 Eagle Rare 10 Elijah Craig 12 Weller Antique 107 (personal favorite) 1
dtrott Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 1)Blanton's 2)Four Roses Small Batch 3) Angel Envy 4)Basil Hayden........all great either " on ice or neat" Also, all under $60 here in Ct.
2skinny Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Try any of the Russell's Reserve Bourbons or Rye. They produce small batch and single barrel in both rye and bourbon. Also, I second the Angel's Envy comments. Very good in bourbon and rye. I live in Central Kentucky and most of the hard to find bourbons are impossible to find here.
jcolan1 Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 Bang for the buck IMHO is Buffalo Trace. I'm a big fan of Buffalo Trace as well, especially at around $25. Seems a lot of people are recommending E. H. Taylor and Angel's Envy, and I am right there with them. Both are great. I've also had a few glasses of Widow Jane and really enjoyed it.
Markymark80 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Just picked up some Hudson Baby...good stuff about $60 a bottle. Eagle Rare is another good one and about $35.
wade1979 Posted February 28, 2016 Posted February 28, 2016 Picked up a bottle Colonel E.H. Taylor's at Papadisco's recommendation. Really enjoyed it and had the best citrus notes in a bourbon I have ever personally sampled. At $39 US a bottle its a huge steal.
ThePolskiOgorki Posted March 2, 2016 Posted March 2, 2016 I like poor mans Pappy aka Weller 12. I can't get my hands on any of the real stuff here in Canada. Very few bottles are allotted and what does ends up being sold by a lottery. Evan Williams Single Barrel is excellent. At least the 2004 Vintage I had recently was and you really can't beat the price. 1

superconductor71 Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 Blanton's (a great de-facto standard) Woodford Reserve Larceny (pairs great with many cubans, a bit sweet but at $27 a bottle it's worth a try) George T Stagg (only one annual release...great If you can find it) Stagg Jr (usually about 2 releases per year, becoming cult favorite, latest release at about 130 proof...also tough to find but rewarding)
Phillys Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 I have been looking to try some wheaters. Weller is hard to get in my part of Canada. Is Makers Mark or the MM 46 any good? Also been looking to try Bernheim Straight Wheat it's available here but it's $65. What are your favourite wheat bourbon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I also really like the Weller Special Reserve, assuming you can't find the Weller 12 or Antique 107. Blanton's is still the best aside from Weller 12/107. Eagle Rare is great, but can be a little sweet depending on the barrel. I've heard great things about the Larceny and like that it clocks in at a little higher proof, but having Weller 12/107 around all the time I'm not that motivated to try it as I have 20- something other bottles open and didn't drink as much Bourbon this winter as usual.
Easttide Posted March 9, 2016 Posted March 9, 2016 This just came up across my FakeBook page, thought I'd share. http://bourbonr.com/blog/bourbonr-guide-to-wheated-bourbon/

I see that Buffalo Trace has the most wheaters in their lineup. I need to call the provincial liquor store head quarters to convince them to bring in more BT products.
