brschoppe Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 I am in. However, I don't know what will be harder...determining how to set my scale to metric or quitting my soda habit (which should go a long way in loosing weight). 1
Perla Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Wishing you all a good time doing this and a huge success. 4

ElPuro Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 Not that I don't trust people (not in the competition myself) but couldn't a person just carry some weights during the initial weigh in to appear to lose a lot by the end?
santela Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 I'm not overweight but still want to get in shape. What the hell, I'm in.
santela Posted January 9, 2016 Posted January 9, 2016 Not that I don't trust people (not in the competition myself) but couldn't a person just carry some weights during the initial weigh in to appear to lose a lot by the end? Yeah but this is more or less on an honor system. It's more about bein motivated to lose some weight even if you don't win. 1
forgop Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Not that I don't trust people (not in the competition myself) but couldn't a person just carry some weights during the initial weigh in to appear to lose a lot by the end? There's always a way to cheat the system in such a contest, but you're hurting your health more than you're hurting my humidor. If losing 30-40 lbs was only worth a box of cigars, I'd trade one of my own out for it without hesitation. 1
JackFNQ Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 After some thought I am going to go with a diet with this one. It will be The CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet : Complete Recipe Collection Just released Nov 2015. http://www.bookdepository.com/CSIRO-Total-Wellbeing-Diet-Dr-Manny-Noakes/9780670078530 So for educational purposes I will submit what I think is the best recipe from the CSIRO book. This is worth a read; http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2015/01/30/time-restricted-eating.aspx For exercise I like this for my situation. Just stop if you feel any discomfort, ie pulled muscle. http://www.bookdepository.com/Instant-Health-The-Shaolin-Qigong-Workout-for-Longevity-Yan-Lei/9780956310101 maybe later graduate to http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2015/04/03/high-intensity-interval-training-weight-management.aspx http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2015/03/06/walking-high-intensity-interval-training.aspx http://fitness.mercola.com/sites/fitness/archive/2012/05/18/burpee-strength-training-exercise.aspx - so you don't have to spend lots on equipment. A hip injury is restrictive for me. I really don't want to walk around here amongst painful march flies, snakes, drop bears and boars, and heat. 23rd wedding anniversary this Sat, so after that I'll begin. No we don't actually eat Vegemite, we put it on our necks as a repellant. Protection from Drop Bears. This is what happens to US servicemen who think we're joking when on exercises.
forgop Posted January 12, 2016 Posted January 12, 2016 I will be doing Atkins and like that they have a meal planner, grocery list, and food/progress tracker online and for your phone. Their app is also capable of syncing with my Withing Pulse O2 activity tracker and scale. I'm also going to put the Peloton spinning bike to use for no less than 30 minutes a day and on my days off try to get an hour or two. Gonna try to get 40 lbs off minimum in this 10 weeks.
JamesNYC Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 I should probably do this. Just not sure I will! I'll set an alarm on my phone for the weigh-in day.
dougincanada Posted January 14, 2016 Posted January 14, 2016 Any extra motivation to start is a good thing. My fat clothes are getting tight. So I am in. Only cigars for desert and all liquor neet or on the rocks. I'll miss those sugary coffee drinks. Sent from my Lenovo K50-t5 using Tapatalk
forgop Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Any extra motivation to start is a good thing. My fat clothes are getting tight. So I am in. Only cigars for desert and all liquor neet or on the rocks. I'll miss those sugary coffee drinks. Sent from my Lenovo K50-t5 using Tapatalk My fat scrubs were getting tight and I have to spend $150 on new scrubs by May. I'm sure as hell not buying new fat scrubs as these are gonna get tossed. My jeans are even worse as I barely can get them on, but if I'm not in scrubs at the hospital, it's pajama pants or shorts at home. You guys better bring your A games cuz the carb withdrawal headaches have already started and the drop in 3 days is quite impressive. While I very much would like to win a box of cigars, I will be donating them to a BOTL stricken with cancer who wasn't given the best prognosis a couple of weeks ago.
CanuckSARTech Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Crap!!!! Did I miss out on this?? I need it BAD this year!
