Over the years I've had a love hate relationship with the Partagas Short.... I have experienced a lot of plug issues hit and miss with this cigar. When the are on they are on! When ever I grab for this cigar I dread finding another plugged one.... I recently ordered a cab of them hesitantly. I couldn't resist the urge to smoke one ROTT. It was one of the best Partagas Shorts I have ever smoked. (nubed it).

Does anyone else has a love hate relationship with a cigar?

One of the prime examples of inconsistency for me was the Boli Petit Belicosos. One was brilliant, next two ones meh, next one great again.....

Really don't know what they did to those.

Does dry boxing help at all?

To be honest I have never used dry boxing.

Really? You oughta give it a go. In your clime it would be only about a 20 min experiment!

I only smoke about 1 cigar a week and when I find that chance to grab a smoke I never know what cigar i'm going to grab for.. How long do you think a cigar is safe in a dry box before it starts drying out too much?

If you maintain a low steady state RH level you can leave sticks in for a while with no worries.

I keep my dry box around 59-60% and sticks will be drier than straight from the main storage unit (64%) but not too dry, even after a number of days or weeks.

RyJ No2. Lovely cigar on its day, smooth and not too heavy, but it seems that every other 10 box I've got has had a terrible draw needing spiking from a darning needle (a tip from my mother, bizarrely enough).

I've never had a plugged short...ever. My coolerdor rocks 62 - 64% rh and I don't dry box...unless travel time in a pre-loved tubo counts.

Love/hate? I would characterize my experience with the '14 Privada this way...though I think it's more that I'm a huge Parti fan but I just don't really like the privadapod.gif

The closest to a love/hate relationship I have with a cigar is the Montecristo No.2. This is only because on the whole I find them okay, but when they are 'on' they can be wondrous, exemplary (insert adjective here......) etc. It's the difference between these brilliant Montecristo No.2's and average ones that I don't enjoy.

I agree entirely. It seems like I have had the most inconsistency with the monte 2's than anything else. I'm at the point that when I do buy some I only buy a box of 10 because it seems that within that 10 they are either all good or all bad. If they are all good I can grab one with confidence, if they're all bad I don't feel like I've wasted a ton of money.

Agreed, the Monte #2 is the one I never have a lot of luck with. Hit or miss...
