brschoppe Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 I say both 6 and 9 are correct Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Perla Posted December 20, 2015 Posted December 20, 2015 Very good point. 8= 56 147= 42 126= 30 105= 20 83= 12 What does not work with this approach is that there is an asynchrony step on the left side (5 to 3) while the right side is fully synchron. IMHO Yes that's what math is for - to confuse the cat. What puzzled me was the jump from 5 to 3. As there is a irregularity in there, I was looking for pattern/ logic solution. That's what math crack head look for - for unobvious pattern. Pick the truth. LOL

IMHO You're right. Even using the new pattern, the answer will still be 6. Neat.

aushy Posted December 21, 2015 Posted December 21, 2015 Are you sure? It also could be: 8= 56 -14 7= 42 -12 6= 30 -10 5= 20 -8 3= 12 You skipped number 4. I think you mean: 4 = 12 -6 3 = 6 That's the way I saw the pattern, the subtraction on the right hand side is decreasing in 2 each time. E.g. subtract 14, subtract 12, subtract 10 etc. I never thought of it like x*x -x like some of you guys did. Interesting the way people work this out differently. The use of the equals sign really annoys me though. 8=56 is a blatant lie!! So on second thoughts, I'm going to change my answer to 3=3. I challenge you to prove me wrong!
