El Presidente Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Serious crims will always have firearms. Plenty of recent articles here on home made firearms being found among drug dealers etc. It is not something I am seeing (or being discussed) in the general populace.
Scrubber Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 There have been pretty bad gang wars going on in Sydney for the last few years. This accounts for the spike in gun crime. It's scum killing scum so really not an issue for the general population. Police just need more resources so they can prosecute more of these crims. The only negative effect is that the gun laws are usually tightened in response even though almost all the guns being used are illegally imported (with a small number of stolen registered guns) so the stricter gun laws do nothing to address the problem. NJP Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I live in the north of Melbourne and every two days we have a gun taken from a stopped and searched car. Chinese made hand guns run around $3500 for the lucky fan and there are plenty of them. Imported in pieces and assembled locally.
Duxnutz Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 We had a shooting in the Inner West of Sydney (Leichardt) a night or so ago the next street over, probably 300m from our place.
SCgarman Posted November 11, 2015 Author Posted November 11, 2015 So is gun ownership prohibited for individual citizens of Australia? They say in the US there are over 300 million guns, enough for every man woman and child in the country. A staggering number!
Fuzz Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Easy enough to get a licence for a firearm. Once you pass the exam and as long as you don't have any criminal convictions, you're good to go.
PigFish Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 When a commodity becomes illegal, one group or another gets rich supplying the demand. The want and need does not end, it just drives up the price and shifts the money out of the legitimate economy to the black economy. This is a simple tenent actually, known, obvious and factual. The only that don't recognize it have a goal that is something other than what is being controlled, and that is the control of mans' nature. Mans' nature will not be changed by acts of government. It has been proven time and time again, but they will keep trying it over and over until the Lord once more returns. -Pigverbs: 2015-11-11 3
