There have been a few law changes that should make it easier to send money to Cuba.

For those who are doing so, outside of taking the cash there, what are the best ways (companies) today to remit funds to Cuba?

Your help is most appreciated ok.gif

We always use Western Union to send money to Family

Unfortunately Western Union only permits funds transfer from the USA to Cuba (to approved recipients).

You might be able to use a US Charter. Call Xael Charters (305) 643-5220.

Get them setup with Bitcoin...

That would probably require them to have decent internet or mobile network:) When a hour of internet costs 1/10 of their monthly salary it would be cost prohibitive to use. However, I like your thinking!

Western Union is def easier and prob the less expensive option. True it is mainly used for family, but you are also allowed to send up to a lifetime max amount for cubans to use in the visa application process. (I think it is like 2k, but I would have to check). This could also be used for those applying for the fiance visa for their girl/boyfriend, and professionals applying for, for example, a 5 year US travel visa. PM me a couple details, and I will tell you what they have to be comfortable doing to get it done whatever their situation is.

Another option, but more expensive, is the Caribbean Transfers Card from UTS. www.uts-transaction.com. All the info is there. I have used them before back in the day and before I was going down so much. They are consistant. On your first transaction, they will print a card for the recipient, and they can pick up without charge at the main provincial office. After they have the card, any future remittances will go straight on the card, and they can use it at an ATM. Cost will be around 18-20%, but the recipient will receive straight CUC.

And from the above post, I am assuming all the transactions will occur from the US.
